• My cat was stolen; I got her back

This happened a fair while ago; It's only occurred to me to write about it. About three years ago my family and myself went on holiday to Egypt. We pulled out all the stops, first class hotel etc. and had a great time. When we got back to Britain we found our youngest cat had been stolen from the cattery. She's the youngest of the three. The oldest, Raffles, is a black domestic short hair, second is Monty, the average Mackerel Tabby, and Pepper is a silver Tabby/Bengal cross breed. Being part Bengal she's a noisy little blighter, and spends most of her life squeaking at you, be it for food, attention, to go out etc. She's also incredibly friendly, literally leaping at your hand to get stroked, and standing on her hind legs like a meer-cat if there was anything tasty around, like fish. Anyway, once we were back and we'd gone to pick up our cats, the owners of the cattery told us two women had stolen her during the week. The pens had no locks, so the two just walked in and grabbed her. They obviously knew she was valuable, as they left the other two. We were devastated, and honestly never expected to see her again. We put an ad in the local paper, told everyone we could, and just hoped. Then, about six weeks later, we got her back. A person working in a burger vendor in North Prospect noticed a silver Tabby picking at litter in a bin. She recognised her as a pedigree and a house cat, as she wasn't particularly grubby or thin. She took this cat to the local cat home. A day or two later, an old lady was walking through the place when she spotted this cat. She remembered seeing in the paper a silver Tabby, and wondered if this could be the same one. That particular issue had long gone out of print, so she contacted the newspaper company, and ordered the last two months of prints. She and her husband perused these for days before finally finding the ad for the missing cat. She phoned my dad and told him what she'd seen. My dad left the house about five minutes later with one of the few photos we'd taken of Pepper, and headed towards the cat home. When he got there, he showed the photo to one of the workers , who compared the markings and confirmed this was indeed Pepper. And to this day she's still with us, very happy. She's no longer so keen about being picked up, but she still leaps at your hand and paws your leg if there's milk in the cereal bowl. I wrote this partly because I thought you might like to hear this story, and partly to prove that there are still good people in the world, and proof that good things happen to good people. We were incredibly lucky; if it hadn't been for the burger seller and the old lady, we'd never have got Pepper back. Edit Okay, as per request, pics (not tagging them, they're huge): http://s913.photobucket.com/albums/ac332/QwertyTSecond/?action=view&current=pepper1.jpg http://s913.photobucket.com/albums/ac332/QwertyTSecond/?action=view&current=pepper2.jpg http://s913.photobucket.com/albums/ac332/QwertyTSecond/?action=view&current=pepper3.jpg http://s913.photobucket.com/albums/ac332/QwertyTSecond/?action=view&current=pepper4.jpg http://s913.photobucket.com/albums/ac332/QwertyTSecond/?action=view&current=pepper5.jpg
Cool story bro.
What a great way to contribute, a meme.
Aww, that's nice.
Also, I'm glad you got her back, and you're all happy. EDIT: :ninja: :frown:
It's good to see that there are still good people on earth. Why did did they take the cat? Were the planning on selling it?
I sense a disturbing lack of pics in this thread. Anyways, I'm glad you got her back... Who the fuck steals cats anyways? :'(
I'd have kicked the living shit out of the people running the... Did you say cattery? But kudos for getting your cat back. Also that isn't how you use a semicolon.
Yay kitty :buddy:
Sounds like a case of... Cat napping. YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Yay kitty :buddy:
Your avatar fits nicely. Edit: Fuck ninja
You should name a cat after me, my name will protect it. Also, who what couple walks into a cattery and steals a cat without getting caught? It can't be that easy.
Heart warming story no matter if it's copy pasted from elsewhere, need more pics of the cat though.
Awwww. Nice to hear a story that's not about people being assholes.
Awwww. Nice to hear a story that's not about people being assholes.
what are you talking about, some one had stolen his cat glad you got it back
Whats with all the "my cat got" or "The bitch across the street my cat" threads?
sorry i abducted you
It's good to see that there are still good people on earth. Why did did they take the cat? Were the planning on selling it?
We figure it was either because of her value, or because they were akin to the people who have handbag dogs ie. fashion accessories. We reckon one of three things happened to allow her to escape. Either the new owners got bored of her and let her run, she escaped through a window or something, or the owners realised she was too much hot water after the newspaper ads.
Whats with all the "my cat got" or "The bitch across the street my cat" threads?
Hivemind.
That's a cool looking cat. Looks like a soft cuddly fur coat. My cat is all greasy... Or feels that way atleast.
Green eyes.
