And there I thought it was going to be a stand alone movie of Frozen from The Incredibles :(
edit: I really only read the first two words.
His name is Frozone
wow, this is really cool
That's some damn impressive simulation!
man i'm excited for the near future of 3d animation quality
I want to see a game use this kind of snow effects in it. Or even, any kind of basic snow accumulation. I like cold weather climates. I hate the hot, muggy, wet hell I live in. Places that are cold and get plenty of snow would be great to me. And similarly, I love these environments in games. Not enough games are set in cold environments or do a good job of representing them in any way.

It'd be pretty awesome but we probably won't see it for a while. Imagine the processing power needed to calculate this. Now imagine that you need to run everything else a game has to offer as well.

If we can simulate water and cloth physics, I don't see why snow physics would be any worse. Can't imagine how long it will be till we get snow physics.

By water simulation, do you mean surface ripple simulation? Because full 3D water simulation is not seen in many games, if any. Because it's either horribly slow or horribly blobby.
And really, cloth simulation isn't anything near as demanding as this must be.
very awesome but it was hard to understand the guy's voice, it sounded like a jumble of what to me
Recolor that and call it brown sugar simulation.

just keep it white and call it cocaine simulation
this is really impressive
As an animator and VFX artist, this blew my fucking face off.
Shame the movie looks bad.

These videos are always super impressive but have horrible production quality. it always sounds like a webcam mic in a reflective room.
It doesn't say whether this is realtine or not!?
Imagine that in a real-time sandbox environment.
That got me way harder than it should have

Lagoa Multiphysics did something similar a while back:

snowball fights in club penguin will never be the same
In early October I went to the Walt Disney Studios for an exclusive event for Frozen. They really do put a lot of work into it; It takes them months to work on scenes with these special effects.
Disney's R&D department do some insane stuff.
Something was posted ages ago about accurate snow simulation as well as other tech demos.

Considering the fact that it's for a CG movie, I'm gonna' go ahead and assume that it's pre-baked.
That would have been a cool thing to have in Company of Heros 2

What about From Dust? Last I remember that game had some pretty good dynamic water simulation. I don't expect full blown snow physic, just wouldn't be surprised to see games in the future (ie 5-7 years) have snow physics.

it's secretly an advertisement for the new GTX Tundra with snow cooling

The simulation at 2:58 was particularly impressive
