For the amount of soldiers they'd save with a system like that, soldiers are probably less expensive than equipping every similar vehicle with that.

From the sound of the rounds coming at them it was probably a sniper, but I don't think they really knew where to shoot, were just shooting.

I don't see why they don't use optics on mounted HMGs. The guy's aiming is pretty wild. While it is just for suppression, a scope or even a look down his binos could've improved accuracy
