Skip to 24:00 minutes, the rest is just the usual question and answer fluff you get from those scam calls.
[sp]Damn, if he went through each individual transaction it would have taken goddamn ages[/sp]
I fucking love scammer trolls. They're doing god's work.
We used to get them here until I started doing something pretty devious - when they'd call and I'd figure out they were a telemarketer or a scammer, I'd go nab the other remote phone, pick up on it, and hold them receiver-to-speaker so they'd get blasted with super loud high frequency feedback until they hung up. We get about one call every two weeks now save for the campaigners, and I don't fuck with the campaigners, I just tell them "I know who I'm voting for," and hang up on them.
My friend answers 800 numbers with "911, what's your emergency" and then blows up their phone threatening to arrest them when they hang up. That's too far for me though, since it's totally illegal.
Jesus, half a million dollars scammed within the last 6 months.

He's still breaking the law though. An eye for an eye and all that.

I'd agree if it wasn't an international scam where the victim has little to no recourse. There's also factoring in that the scammers usually willfully take advantage of folks who legitimately don't know better. When you prey on the weak, you deserve to get slammed, in my honest opinion. I'd ask what the alternative is.
Unless you mean my buddy posing as 911, in which case, yeah, it's illegal, but it's cathartic as fuck.
My mom just used an airhorn tbh
Those fucking flies make me so uneasy.

Taking back what was stolen isn't "an eye for an eye". He's actually repairing the harm that's been done, it's not just pointless revenge.
This guy did God's work.
While I do support him refunding those people, he still is accessing a computer and functions of a website that he has no authorization to access, which I'm sure is also illegal, despite his intent.
It's a very gray area given the circumstances, but I wouldn't call it an eye for eye because if either of them were to be caught they'd both be prosecuted for different crimes.

Would be a real shame if the foreign authorities attempted to bring charges to the US and the US just sort of shrugged their shoulders and said "Eh, whatever." You know, like theirs do.

for as long as i can remember my family have had some sorta ongoing competition with eachother to see who is best at fucking with those folk that call up about that sorta shit, usually consists of putting on an accent and leading them on until they have no idea what's happening :v:

guaranteed the majority is from pensioners/old people
my grandma knew what to do when they called up, she'd just say she has no internet and shes using a macintosh and they'd go into panic stations like why would this old woman know anything about that shit
I remember my mother being called by these kind of guys that call and tell you your computer is fucked or something. Luckily she knows she's mostly tech-illiterate and just passed the phone to me and she felt it was fishy (they were speaking English even though our native language is Dutch). I just hung up, and I've been regretting it ever since. It's hilarious to fuck with those kind of people but we've never had a call like it ever since.
when i worked at a call center I pretty much got treated like a scammer too :v: i don't blame anyone though, nobody wants to be called.

At least people are aware of it. You should be skeptical of any incoming calls that are commerce related.
Only mistake: He seems to have sent the mail via To: instead of Bcc:.
Please don't do that if you don't know for certain that each recipient knows all others' addresses, or if there's any other privacy issue involved.
How is this legal? Half a million dollars made from selling pointless shit that most likely doesn't even work or could be solved for less than 50 bucks at a Tech Repair shop. It makes me kinda sick to know they make so much money by preying off of people who don't know any better.
I make it a point to waste these guy's time as much as I can. The more time of theirs you waste, the less time they can scam innocents.
Best I ever did was act like I didn't know what the keyboard was.
"Okay press the R key"
"The- uh- what one is that again?
It went on for almost an hour before they gave up and transferred me to another guy, and he eventually hung up on me.

Is there even anything wrong with the PC? Are they providing a service or sell a product? I thought they just ask for money like "Hey I'm a mechanic and I can see your car is broken, even if you don't notice it." *magic touch on hood* "It's fixed now, $500 please!"
What am I looking at here?

A guy calls the number on one of those fake "computer over! virus = very yes!" pop up ads and then starts fucking with the scammers.

I mean, I guess but I don't understand what's going on with the screen or what they're talking about.

From what I understand they get you to buy a subscription for paid tech support tricking you into thinking that you actually need it, they don't just pretend to fix your problem
No idea if there's some kind of legal loophole in there or it's just the fact that they're usually located in bumblefuck, nowhere chances are they'll never get in legal troubles
My IT teacher got an email from a scammer, and he managed to trace the email back to the exact IP and location. He even managed to get the router information. Then, he managed to log into it using the default account name and password, and basically reset everything.

Scorpionick's running a keylogger, so when the "tech support" logs in he's got his username and password.
He's asking some technical questions to see what this technician's knowledge is like, purely for shits and giggles.
But I can't explain the flies.
Man thats some amazing scambait work on Scorpionick's part.
Good on him.

Are you for being real with this :v:
would it be illegal and "Bad" to snatch an xbox someone stole and return it to the original owner too?

Not revenge. Punishment. He is The Punisher.
