Key word being "good" on this one. While I'm looking mostly for dramatizations, historical accuracy is greatly appreciated. Documentaries are fine as long as they aren't History Channel bore-o-ramas. Non-English films are fine as long as subtitles are included or available (obviously).
Any suggestions? Thanks.

Never seen it before, but hey, Kirk Douglas.

Thanks, it seems to have good reviews. I also found a 1999 Nova documentary by the same title.
Nope.
Outlander? Think they were vikings....although technically it's a sci-fi.

Hilarious movie by Terry Giliam.
'Nuff said.
I think there was the one about vikings chasing a book of something
mastermaul made a good suggestion, I just finished watching it and it was much better than I expected. Recommended.
And I knew about Erik the Viking already. Haha.
How to train your dragon was a pretty chill movie.
I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet.
It's not actually about vikings though.
Pathfinder is an alright movie.
Wonder how many years til Hollywood will realize that Vikings actually did not speak American.
Beowulf kind of.

I'd rather they had american accents than crappy "svedish" ones.
It's odd how people complain about historical films having american accents, but they never do if they have english accents.

And having them al speaking in authentic viking languages would be very difficult to do.
Just let them speak a Scandinavian language then. It's a lot more authentic than English.
+ Alot more awesome for the last with pagan blood.

It would, but English does have its share of words inherited from Old Norse.
Random knowledge I guess.

Yeah I know, English has it's roots in Germanic as well as Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Icelandic, German and Dutch. Can't remember if there's any other language originated in Germanic.
But geographically speaking, then Danish/Swedish/Norwegian would be most authentic.

Could only find french poster.
There was that one thread awhile back about the viking movie in Scandinavian. Can't remember what it was called, though. I'll see if I can find it.

They actually spoke Norwegian in that movie.

They said "fjord" in The Vikings about ninety times, surely that counts for something.
Thanks for the suggestions.

I'll check out the 13th warrior next.
Oh my God there was a film that came out a weeks back which was an ultra gory viking flick. It escapes me at the moment but I'll try and find it for you OP. Got good reviews all round.

Pathfinder?
I know the movie "The 13th Warrior" have been mentioned, but i highly recommend it. Its a great movie, i my self are a Norwegian and i could understand what they said there in the movie. The weird thing is that it wasn't old Norwegian which Vikings spoke, but new Norwegian as we speak now :P
Anyways, its a good movie with good aspects on how vikings lived and their habits. But the part of the enemy barbarian tribe in this movie is "fiction" since we never had that in Norway under the viking times.
Watch it!
