BERLIN (AP) — Authorities say emergency workers called to a conference center in northern Germany found some 30 people staggering and suffering from cramps, apparently as a result of amphetamine poisoning. The local government said 15 ambulances and a helicopter were sent to the scene Friday in the small town of Handeloh, south of Hamburg, the dpa news agency reported.
Fire service spokesman Matthias Koehlbrandt told broadcaster NDR the group was aged between 25 and 55. NDR reported they were alternative and homeopathic practitioners, and that they were taken to the hospital.
Authorities said their preliminary finding was that the group was poisoned with amphetamines, but Koehlbrandt said they didn't knowingly take the substance.
They must have diluted it too much.
It's a wonder why people still haven't realized that homeopathy is snake oil.

These people take common sense for granted, and practically "get rid of it"... I can't believe in this day and age there's people falling for this.

Damn Snake Oil Salesmen
I get the whole "pharma industrial complex is literally hitler" argument, but I fail to see how eating tic tacs instead of taking proper medicine is supposed heal you from whatever illness you have.
Did they go to homoeopathic hospital?
I hope they find the culprit... I wonder what the motive is.
Guys; what the fuck.
They were just at a homeopathy conference, it even says it in the excerpt that they never took anything which means either someone lied or someone snuck in the drugs to hurt them.

It's really water actually, even snake oil is giving it too much credit

That's pretty fucked up if it's the case. Sounds kind of like a stunt some anon agent would pull trying to make a point about homeopathy.
Seriously though, my dad was trying to get me to take some $20 homeopathic cold medicine recently and I had to explain the whole thing. It sucked, and it was upsetting how effective their rhetoric is to people who are skeptical of pharmaceuticals.
I really don't see why organisations for homeopathy are legal in the developed world, you can undoubtedly link serious harm to the "practices" and most likely some deaths to boot.
To promote the idea and even suggest to someone with serious health problems to consider homeopathic "treatments" IMHO is up there if not worse than impersonating a doctor.
the marketing and labeling of homeopathy is actually very strictly regulated in the US
I'm just curious why they were given amphetamine and what it was supposed to help with. I mean I suppose it would "quick fix" depression and fatigue issues but I mean, It's a noticeable sensation even at lower doses IME

Considering it was only cramps and nothing like panicky and other common side effects associated with higher doses, I doubt it was put to harm anyone, it was probably put in with a put together supplement or actual low doses of pills, but who really knows this article has too few details

It's the same here, I don't think you can market any of it for being against something specific (which means the bottles/whatever themselves are unlabelled in that regard and there's no advertising that I remember).
Only (most) private health insurance pays for it here, while the normal one doesn't, so it's usually more expensive than getting proper medication.

instead of surgery to heal wounds do they use crystal healing methods?
The power of 70C, folks!
Good homeopathic practitioners believe in the cohabitation of homeopathy and traditional medicine.
i.e. Chemo for the cancer, homeopathic soup to try and feel a little better.

I thought that homeopathy was that you cure whatever you have with small doses of something that causes similar effects.
As in that I would take amphetamine to treat a hypomaniac episode :v:

Think you might be confusing natural remedy with homeopathy, two different things.
IIRC homeopathy is where you dilute medical components to impossibly small amounts and falsly assume some magical force turns it into a working medicine
homeopathic soup
Sooo, a bowl of hot water?

Because it's snake oil with a long tradition. Homeopaths studied flawed theories for a good chunk of their lives. And because it's such a great part of their lives, they want to pass it on to the next generation. So I don't think we'll see the end of it soon.
Good news: According to Vice they took it intentionally.
Most sources I've come across are saying they took 2C-E, not amphetamine.
2C-E is a really potent psychedelic. As little as 5mg can be enough to feel the effects, and 20-30mg and over can be a really intense trip. Long lasting too (up to 15 hours).
I'm guessing these dumbshits didn't use a proper scale for dosing.
They must not have believed in scales
