Bombsuits are awesome.
It's not the blast that kills you, it's the shockwave. Liquefies your internal organs, bombsuit or not. Thankfully, this blast didn't look large enough to cause anything too major internally, and all the shrapnel and debris was countered by the suit. Lucky man indeed.
Reminded me of hurt locker: INstant boredom.
"The Officer, who was blown a nearly 10-metres by the explosion, received only minor injuries." Yeah, NEARLY 10 meters. Glad he's okay. Didn't know they have problems with car bombs in Bangkok.
And he just gets up
The officer, who was blown a nearly 10-meters by the explosion, received only minor injuries.
To start: "blown a nearly" isn't proper English. 10 meters = 32 feet. That guy was knocked over and landed 5-6 feet away from the car. :downs: Leave it to media personal to inflate everything and write like a retard. Side note: Nice to see those suits are effective.
Looks like he wasn't that big of an expert
It's not the blast that kills you, it's the shockwave. Liquefies your internal organs, bombsuit or not.
It's the shrapnel that kills you. Tiny pieces of fragmented metal lacerate your internal organs and cause internal bleeding and a whole cornucopia of very painful ways to die. It's more the fragmentation than the shockwave. For a shockwave to kill someone, it'd have to be pretty fucking powerful, and they'd have to be pretty close. The intention of carbombs, nailbombs, and IED's is to pelt bystanders with shrapnel.
Ahahaha 10 Meters my fucking ass, that's like 3, tops.
and that only because he jumped
I can just imagine him laying there for 5 seconds and being like "...ow".

You know this is a story he always brags about, and rightfully so. Hi my name is so-and-so and I survived a car bomb explosion. WHAT.
That must be intense to stand back up after a bomb went off in your face, even with the suit.
"hey look a nickle"
Ok fine stop whining I gave you a winner.
That's one way to diffuse a bomb.
"Okay guys, I defused it!"
*pow* "Oh fuck... Uh... How do i get up?"
The video clearly stated that the charges were detonated remotely from somewhere nearby, which cannot really be prevented. You cannot diffuse a bomb if it knows exactly the right time to blow up. Although perhaps they could have used a radio jammer to prevent any transmissions nearby.

Maybe a pressure plate? Maybe the car handle is rigged?

I wonder why they don't use portable jammers, it's not like anybody can tell them it's against the law or something. I guess maybe they're afraid of the signal actually detonating the device. :ohdear:
