Why have Zach and Chris stopped staying in touch? I never hear of them together anymore.
I missed this. I remember way back in HS, hellbenders was one of their best pieces of work.
Watched it with the clear knowledge that its really unfinished, makes me even more excited for the full thing since it is even 5 minutes longer and would then be very polished.
Great to see that Hellbenders is moving up and also hoping they can get a fine deal with some studio (Adult Swim?) for a larger team + budget since the original deal they had with a company meant they lost all their rights to the franchise

I saw the 15 minute version on Vimeo and it flowed way better, there was even a bunch of extra scenes, like one where spider Zach makes Chris breakfast and Old Ms Pussy Wrinkle comes to visit
I feel bad for watching it, but also super fucking hyped for when it's done

Thing is, they didn't. According to Zach, him and Chris didn't cut anything from this leak; it was whoever uploaded the leak who did. This is just an edited version of the Vimeo leak.
I still find it weird that Zach and Chris are playing themselves instead of making ersatz characters for the show, but hey shit's funny
Not saying it's necessarily a bad thing but it's a bit weird how they never moved past the old newgrounds-style humor with the constant distorted/overly detailed faces, crude jokes, yelling and such
most of the others who used to do that ended up eventually moving past that into their own individual styles but here the only difference seems to be the lines are a bit cleaner than they were 8 years ago

Isn't that mainly a mix of some animation tropes? constant distorted/overly detailed faces were very common for cartoons like Ren and Stimpy.
Also it's Psychicpebbles and OneyNG. Those crude jokes won't end soon (I don't think they will)

That's not [I]just[/I] NG-style.
Ren & Stimpy, Cow and Chicken, etc. all have done that sort of humor and basic-to-super detailed art.
I liked the humor in that pilot, even if unfinished and with edits fucked up. Oney and Zach are modern day-old school CN.

Most Newgrounds people moved past it but Oney and Pebbles stuck around and perfected it, you have to admit the timing and context of the screams/faces is 10x better than previous Hellbenders episodes and help to add emotion to a usually very simple art style.
Also their style of humors is simply not for everyone (which is always the case with any sort of humor). I mean i love Rick and Morty but my girlfriend doesn't really get the humor, same goes for this.

On a side note I figured out that a a lot of girls aren't into this type of humor or don't seem to get it
I will say the full 15 minute one had me almost in tears laughing. I've grown tired of the "lol funny face and scream haha" but something about how oney and zach do it is just so great and never seems to get old to me
