The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) has put out a bulletin highlighting movies that they’ve recently rated, and “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition” has been rated R for “sequences of violence.” The distributor is “Warner Home Entertainment”, so it sounds like we’re getting an extended director’s cut Blu-ray from Zack Snyder!
There’s even a note that reads “EDITED VERSION. CONTENT IS DIFFERENT FROM PG-13 VERSION, BULLETIN NO. 2393 (9/30/15).” Big thanks to @StitchKingdom for the heads up and spotting the news first.
What's the bet they recorded the scenes for an R-rated cut but didn't proceed to CGI them until the saw how well Deadpool did?
I guess Superman will bleed after all.
I'm hoping the director's cut is released when it comes to blu-ray
Good, PG stuff ruins the marvel\dc universe, making stories become linear, designed so children can understand it
i like to imagine they saw deadpool and quickly scrambled to add nudity and swear words in post production to cash in on the hype
do you *cut to batman's dick* - FUCKING - bleed?
I bet all they will do is put "Fuck" several times throughout the script.

A lot of the time films are recorded with a somewhat good amount of cursing, but cut them out to get a PG-13 rating.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Expect to see more R rated superhero movies in the future by studio execs who don't understand why Deadpool was popular.

Hollywood is terrible but they're not "making it like deadpool"
I think it's lame, say what you will about Batman but Superman should be for everyone and I know there's a pg-13 one to but still.
i really wouldn't expect much. the film totally wasn't made to be rated R, so if something tipped it over that they had to cut for the pg-13 rating then it's probably not gonna be anything major. maybe too much foul language or just slightly longer shots of something violent happening.

also this submission was long before deadpool was even confirmed as rated r lol

yeah so some very slightly longer sequences from the fight scenes then. course they'll probably also throw in extra shit like stuff that was cut for running time sake just so they can brag about how many extra minutes this version is
Oh god, its just like Half in the Bag said

ratings have nothing to do with shitty scripts
[editline]24th February 2016[/editline]
by the way comics (at least the main ones, excluding things like MAX and mini-series) have been pg-13 at most for, what, 70+ years? so it's not ratings that made those good in the first place
not even deadpool comics could be considered 'r-rated'
[editline]24th February 2016[/editline]
it's the 'if we have sex and violence we'll be considered mature!!!' shit from the 90's all over again
I guess Superman will bleed after all.
More like Batman gets punched in the head and it explodes.
Given the clusterfuck of characters I'm wondering how most people are remotely excited for this.
Its Snyder, it doesn't surprise me considering how many cuts Watchmen got.
I just hope it isn't him adding gore like bones splintering out like in Watchmen, I don't really want Batman to be shoving shattered, exposed elbows into other criminals.

I know that's not how batman rolls, but I'd still love to see that.
I really hope this is a good film, Watchmen is my favourite super hero comic/film so I have faith.
being shitty ruins dc movies, the dark knight was pg-13 for example
this is going to be dogshit regardless of how much we see superman bleed
Yep.
Trailer told the whole movie and I'm having a hard time seeing this even going average.
[editline]24th February 2016[/editline]
Dark Knight Returns is one of the only good stories with Superman in it, and they decided to alter it for this?
DC cries itself to sleep at night wishing it had a handle on it's cinematic universe like Marvel does.

and don't get me started on Suicide Squad
ohmygod okay:
The director's cut R version was planned far before Deadpool was announced as R.
Its not even coming out until it's released on bluray.
He did the same for Watchmen, still not new and still not "cashing in on deadpool"
Still has no nudity, no excessive swearing, just more R rated action scenes.
I'm fine with this, must we seriously shit continuously on this movie? It's becoming a bandwagon at this point.

Aw yeah. Unnecessary blood and gore.
Blood and dismemberment on a Battlefield? oh Woe is me, what is the world coming to!? Won't someone think of the precious children!?

what is tonal consistency

Man of Steel's main audience is incredibly gullible and stupid.
Trust me, I know one of the biggest fanboys around.

that's a pretty jaded and ignorant blanket statement to make

What a stupid generalization

I rewatched Man of Steel a few weeks back and I actually enjoyed it more than I did when I saw it three years ago.
That doesn't mean I'm gullible and stupid.

You're an idiot if you think were complaining about the rating
