Hello, I have an Audi 80 bought in 1991 and I've been having an issue with the car that seems to repeat itself every summer or whenever it's very hot.
So today was a particular hot day here and every time I leave the car in the sun or heat it takes an awful lot of time to start and when it finally starts it has almost no power, no elasticity, no matter how hard I hit the gas, and then it stops. It goes on an on like this, it's drivable after a few tries yet feeble, has no force. And it's a nightmare to go up a road as it just fails. (Imagine having a row of cars behind you honking as you desperately try to make your car go up the ramp stepping on it like hell as the guys behind you think you're a noob at working with the clutch).
I'm guessing it's some problem with ignition or the ignition switch causing some unprocessed fuel to go through but I've not been able to check because I'm not being able to open the hood since my mother had an accident.
I really need sugestions cause everytime I take it to the mechanic the car is ok for a few weeks and then it returns to the same state.
Thank you!
Uhhhhh....
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh........
Because Race-car.
Also more spec's on the car. If its the petrol engine, Diesel, turbo diesel.
Yeah I seem to get the same problem when it's hot too but I reved the car a little and geared down and went up to high rpm and after that it seems like everything worked faster.
Sounds like it's running too rich for some reason. Shit I'm dead tired right now. It's been 36°C in the shade today...and inside my house, too. Still sitting outside in my underpants right now, and it's 10:30pm. can't think straight.
Don't know if that car's got an intake air temp sensor.. Maybe there's a corroded connection somewhere, and the increased resistance leads to a wrong intake temp reading. Shouldn't lead to such a drastic power loss though.
Maybe it's your lambda control going crazy in the heat for some reason and having too much fuel injected.
It's hard to say without having the car in front of you and the proper tools at hand to take some readings.
