And that's why the handheld mic is usually set for passenger comms and not the headset mic.
At least ATC seems pretty cool with it.
I've heard ATCs go on rambling for minutes lecturing pilots about their mistake and whining about it for much longer. I mean its fine if you want to give them a slap at the wrist just say "don't do that again" don't take up valuable airtime especially around aerodromes with busy VFR traffic.
