Hachikō - A Story of Loyalty & Everlasting friendship

Hachikō was a purebread Japanese Akhita born November the 10th 1923, in Japan. Depicted as chūken Hachikō throughout Japan, 'Faithful Dog Hachikō has a story to inspire us all.
Hidesaburō Ueno, a professor at the University of Tokyo took in Hachikō as a pet. During Ueno's life, Hachikō saw his master leave the house and then greeted him at the end of the day at the Shibuya Station until May 1925, when Ueno, sadly did not return through the doors of the station. Ueno has passed away earlier that very day, never to see his friend waiting for him at the station. After this tragic event, Hachikō was given away to a new owner, but his loyalty and hope led him to continually escape, which everytime lead him to Shibuya Station, where he waited.
Everyday, for the next nine years, Hachikō would wait at the station in hope of seeing his master return through the station doors, to greet and share his love with his master. Hachikō survived from the kindness of the commuters nearby the station, who would bring him food and water to nourish him. His master, sadly never returned and Hachikō passed away on March the 8th 1935, with much sorrow in his heart.
To this day, a sculpture of Hachikō stands outside the station, and everlasting reminder of this legendary companionship.
I believe this true story can inspire us all, such loyalty and passion that Hachikō portrayed is rarely conveyed by humans. I especially relate to this story as I have a Japanese Akhita myself.
Here are two photos of Hachikō:

Bawww, have a heart.
Wanted to see that film. Rated Heart.
Stuff like this makes me :)
:crying:
I hate to admit it, but I actually cried when I saw Hachikō dying at the end of the film. :'(
Saw the movie with my class last week of school to teach us about loyalty.
Oh man, even the tough-guys cried. I cried a river myself. :saddowns:
Also Hachi is japanese for "Eight", which probably means he was the eighth dog.

Humans aren't constructed that way. We have lives to get on with. Dogs don't.
Dawww, makes me miss my dog.

I think this dog is an exception, very few would do this. Try to comprehend the emotion the dog must have had :(
This story is well known to me, since I bear it with me always.
Wasn't there a story similar to this but based in Scotland, the
dog even had his own statue too!

Uh.
That's what I said.
Humans have lifes to attend, work to do.
Dogs really don't, so they keep loyal to one thing - their owner.
Good read
Aww, that's the saddest story I've read in a long time.
Also, your dog is fucking adorable.
