Scientists studying the amazing gliding proficiency of an Asian species known as the paradise tree snake say it does two things as it goes airborne. It splays its ribs in order to flatten its profile from round into a more triangular form, and it undulates while airborne - sort of swimming through the air. Researchers led by Jake Socha, an expert in biomechanics at Virginia Tech, replicated in a plastic model the shape the snake assumes while airborne, and tested it to evaluate its aerodynamic qualities. Dragons
A sequal to "How to train a dragon" should be coming to theaters very soon
Not really found, the article's more talking about the research published in studying the snake's aerodynamic qualities. They're pretty impressive snakes to say the least.
well this is it were fucking done, its over
Snakes on a Plane 2 is being written right now to include this, somewhere.
Snakes on a Plane 2 is being written right now to include this, somewhere.
The snakes will sky dive from the plane invading what ever country they are over.
snakes can slither, snakes can swim, snakes can fly god damn is there anywhere they can't go?
That's not flying. That's gliding like an elegant and majestic bird.
Australian snakes must be able to hover around like a helicopter...
Being in a forest and these guys just start jumping down from the trees onto you like hunters from L4D oh god.
snakes can slither, snakes can swim, snakes can fly god damn is there anywhere they can't go?
Away.
Australian snakes must be able to hover around like a helicopter...
They're like those helicopter lizards from Avatar except deadly I feel like watching Avatar now
They're like those helicopter lizards from Avatar except deadly I feel like watching Avatar now
Where's an Australian. We must confirm the helicopter abilities of these flying snakes...
That's not flying. That's gliding like an elegant and majestic bird.
it's falling with style
Where's an Australian. We must confirm the helicopter abilities of these flying snakes...
Actually, over here they bend in the middle at roughly a right angle and then go spinning through the air. The funny thing is that they always end up coming straight back to where they were thrown from.
Actually, over here they bend in the middle at roughly a right angle and then go spinning through the air. So perhaps the flying fish cryptid derived from snakes (talking about the older one not omg camera blur one).
cool
We have these snakes here on Borneo, its very impressive when you see them 'fly' for yourselves. One of these fuckers once flew onto my boat when we were going exploring in the rainforest. But they're rather harmless really.
snakes can slither, snakes can swim, snakes can fly god damn is there anywhere they can't go?
it's almost like they're people. [editline]31st January 2014[/editline] MOON SNAKES: SOON
Fuck. Fuck evolution, fuck it. I'm so done. Snakes can fucking fly now.
MAN. I HAVE HAD IT WITH THESE MONKEY FIGHTING SNAKES IN THIS MONDAY TO FRIDAY PLANE
Reminds me of this.
Well known for a long time and "fly" is pretty falsified - they're not even gliding well. Still, it'd be damn spooky to see a snake hurtling through the air at you :v:
A sequal to "How to train a dragon" should be coming to theaters very soon
i thought there already was
