I was about halfway home when I saw huge plumes of smoke coming from the area near my house, judged by it's proximity to the water tower in my neighbor's back yard. Of course the first thing to pop in my head was "Oh shit, oh shit, my house is on fire." Once I got there I saw a group of people standing at the four way intersection staring at the fire slowly creeping across the grass in the field on the other side of the corner from my house. After making sure that the fire department had been called and doing my fair share of eying the flame I sprinted back into my house and grabbed my camera, and the pictures basically tell the rest.
I won't post them all because there's too many and they're fucking huge, but I'll include a link to a .rar (will post a .zip if requested as well) of all the pictures.
Enjoy your pictures of scenic middle-of-nowhere Texas.
Hope the fact that it's a fire makes it non-mundane enough. If not, feel free to lock.

Also the people that lived across that side of the street owned horses, which survived unscathed. :3:
TL;DR: Some dumbfuck burned a field across from my house. I took a lot of pictures. Volunteer fire department saved the day.
Fuck. I hope it doesnt spread to your house
It's already out. Fire department is currently driving along repeatedly soaking the edges at the moment.
-posted while tired will not do again-
Light another fire so they can put it out again.
If I lived a county over, that would actually pretty much be expected. They have a lot of trouble with teenagers setting fires constantly. We're currently under a burn ban since we haven't gotten any real rain in a couple months, and it's slightly windy and cold, so fires are pretty dangerous right now.
you call that a bush fire?, thats nothing compared to what we get here in Australia
lol teenagers being instigators
i came home to a brush fire *posts images too large to see what the fuck is going on*

Told you they were huge. Let me resize some and post them again.
"I saw a fire across my house. I better make a thread about it on Facepunch!"
What part of Texas
I think it's cool that you came home to a brush fire. The only cool thing I did was burn the carpet floor when I was 6.

It would appear he doesn't want us to know, considering he covered it up on the firetruck.
I've never seen an accidental fire in real life. Should I be worried?

East of Austin, most of you have probably never heard of the town, I don't think it's even on the map. Not taking my chances though.

If it's becuase he's in a small town, I'd understand.

Ah that's cool, I'm in around SA
Images resized to 800x600. Sorry about that.

If anyone wants to know how close it was to my house, I was about 50 yards from homelessness. It's a good thing the wind wasn't strong enough to carry it across the road.
The fact you signed your name at the end made it gayer.
Wanted to preclude any claims of it being fake.

I find this extremely ironic.
Should have talked to it, probably a message from god you missed. He should really learn to use a phone.
there was one about the same size in the dried out marsh at my old house, at the closest it was 25m away from my house :ohdear:

Glad you're ok, op. :3:
Pft, here in California we replaced rain and snow with fire and earthquakes, and has it ever turned out bad for us?
waiting until someone posts pics of them standing in a field with lighter fluid and a match
