• Staying in a foreign country after the tourist visa has ran out?

Issue here is, my entire life my take a turn into complete devastation within less then two months, and pretty much the only viable option is to take the first best plane ticket to Kyoto (well to the airport in Osaka), to live with a person who is very close to me, BUT, the tourist visa? I do recall it only lasting for three months. But what happens after it has run out? Can't I just stay? I haven't really yet understood how it all works, so if there is anyone literate enough within the subject who can answer the question of "what happens when those three months run out, if you still stay in said country, that country being Japan?", then I would really highly appreciate it. A big thank you in advance.
I think if you stay after your visa expired you're basically an illegal immigrant. I'm not sure though.
Doesn't sound like a very good idea to me... Wouldn't that make you an illegal immigrant?
What happened?

I will of course be relying entirely on this one person, but right now its a risk that I very well need to take.
I guess you'd have to go renovate your visa ASAP, for working or something, depending on what you want to do [editline]27th March 2012[/editline] otherwise, this
Scenario is if I don't, and just stay. I don't really got a lot of other choices, but I would like to know what will happen more in detail.
You should probably contact your embassy in wherever you are if they have one, they'll probably have more information.
If you overstay and get caught you will be put in jail and then kicked out of the country. In serious cases you'll get permabanned from Japan. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2004/05/10/MNGT16IQK81.DTL
I had to renovate my visa. I was studying in Japan though, you will probably have to get some kind of permit by getting a job or something. Speak to your embassy.

OP i've pm'd you a pdf with some info about moving to Japan. Skip to the visa part or read all of it. Just make sure whatever you do, don't get intro trouble. As mentioned before, perma ban from Japan is a possibility.

Just make sure you find a sponsor during your time there who can guarantee your financial situation is alright and takes responsibility incase you end up with unpaid debts and leave the country (common).
damn, these japanese mods are harsh :v:
not nearly as harsh as USA mods...
