I wonder if this will affect the by-election? Probably not.
Ukip has overruled Mark Reckless, its candidate in the Rochester & Strood byelection, after he suggested Polish plumbers and other EU migrants could be asked to leave Britain if his party were in government.
Reckless, the former Tory MP whose defection triggered the byelection, had indicated EU migrants who had lived in the UK for a long time would be looked at sympathetically but others might only be allowed to stay for a transitional period.

His remarks were disowned by Ukip, with a spokesman saying: “It is absolutely not our policy to round up EU migrants and put them on a boat at Dover and send them back to wherever they came from.”
Party sources said Reckless had been wrongfooted in the debate and misunderstood the premise of the question, as Ukip would not ask any EU migrants who are in the country legally to leave.
“Ukip’s position on migration is entirely clear,” a Ukip spokesman said. “We need to sort out our borders, and we cannot do so whilst we remain in the European Union. Those who are in this country lawfully, such as those from EU nations, would have the right to remain. Those who are here illegally would have to apply for work permits.”
Reckless made the comments when he was challenged to spell out what would happen to a Polish plumber if Ukip had its way on Britain leaving the EU.
“I think in the near term we’d have to have a transitional period, and I think we should probably allow people who are currently here to have a work permit at least for a fixed period,” he said.
Asked again whether this would mean a Polish plumber could be deported, Reckless said: “People who have been here a long time and integrated in that way I think we’d want to look sympathetically at.”
What a reckless statement to make.
Ukip needs to fuck off, they've shown their true colours through racist/sexist/homophobic/xenophobic MPs and speeches wanting to kill the NHS.

I wouldn't say that Ukip are a racist/sexist/homophobic/xenophobic party but they're certainly popular with people of all of the above. The problem is that those people either make up a sizable percentage of the population or they vote for Ukip irregardless of it, either possibility is pretty sad.

It's like if ISIS tried to put on a facade of being moderate Muslims.
"bilal can you stop writing blog posts about the jihad for a minute, we're trying to look friendly"
"oh for fuck's sake someone leaked that interview about beheading critics of islam"

Which UKIP policies are racist/sexist/homophobic/xenophobic ?
Which UKIP policies are racist/sexist/homophobic/xenophobic ?
did you even read the fucking article
literally the op of this thread invalidates your point
What a great idea, kick out the immigrants you actually benefit from!
Which UKIP policies are racist/sexist/homophobic/xenophobic ?
Are the policies really relevant when every other week we have one of it's members coming out and saying something racist/homophobic/sexist?
Which UKIP policies are racist/sexist/homophobic/xenophobic ?
The mp's through the comment in op and that guy who blamed the floods on God getting revenge for us allowing gays.
Policy wise - The denying healthcare and education to immigrants is also arguably xenophobic.

Removing people from the country because they're foreign is xenophobic.
Removing people from the country because they're foreign is xenophobic.
Not necessarily, there can be economic reasons for this as well.
This is really stupid in my opinion. There are countries that somewhat excel in particular fields; Japan with technology, Argentina with their psychologist and there are a lot of more cases.
If one of those people want to travel to your country where they can bring some freshness and new ideas that's really beneficial, I cannot imagine any downside, so then why try to isolate yourself?

Okay mate.
There is no evidence to suggest that UKIP is "racist/homophobic/sexist/etc." People who make claims like that are only trying to slander the party's name in order to keep their own party in power.

Members of UKIP have literally been recorded saying these things. You cannot argue with video and audio evidence.

Members of virtually every party have been recorded saying controversial things.

Not to the extent that UKIP members are caught doing it. Its very hard to shake the feeling that the entire party is full of people who share those beliefs.

Yeah they've got some quite shitty members, and I doubt they're all honest about their currently proposed policies either but they are breaking up the monotonous two and a half way brawl that has always resided in Westminster (Lib Dems are effectively dead at this point)

The vast majority of UKIP members aren't racist and will never be racist. In fact, UKIP would never allow racists into their party, just as the Tories and Labour parties don't. This whole "everyone who disagrees with me is racist" nonsense is just that, nonsense.

If it helps, I personally don't care if UKiP is full of racists or not. Every party has racists and complete morons in a minority. Playing that card ONLY is too shallow since it's just being picky.
However, I would never vote UkIp because their policies, members and platform is totally alien to what I think of as reality and extremely populist to the point of absurdity.
But, however, uKIp definitely has a lot of trash for members.

And your proof is two articles showing how racists are handled in the other parties - fired and suspended. Great show.

Only for PR those asshole MPs were tolerated for years, it was only when their antics posed a threat to the parties success that they were removed/told to pipe down/told to avoid saying that shit near press.
"ok everybody we have a chance at success, so pretend to be nice and normal"
His comments were taken out of context and was being baited over this to get a bad answer.

He might have been baited that but is irrelevant. He either lied for popularity or didn't know his parties policy, both are pretty shitty regardless of whether or not he was "baited".
Baiting by the way is a legitimate tactic for interviewing politicians. Had he known his parties stance on immigration past "hnng immigrants bad send them all home!" he wouldn't have slipped up.
