Fullscreen bug is pretty awful and left me kind of bothered throughout the prologue. It must be rendering at 720P or something, because it looked like someone smeared Vaseline all over my 1080P monitor.
Game runs great but the pre-rendered cutscenes look like piss on my ultra-wide monitor.

Scaled up 1600x900 is what most people are saying.
You can try a bit of a hacky solution with running it in windowed mode then using a third party borderless full screen app.

Yeah, I noticed something looked off. Not sure what TB was referring to with being unable to change settings before starting though, I was able to. It probably doesn't fully take until you are able to save your game, guess that's what he meant.
I just use that free Borderless Gaming program. IMO I prefer playing in borderless window compared to fullscreen for lots of games anyway, wish more games had it built in.

Imo this is functionality GPUs could offer as a part of their drivers. Would work whether devs bother to add it or not
It's 2017 and I need an external app to run a game released yesterday in 1080p :hypeisnotreal:

Considering Platinum only has two PC ports to their name, I think that's acceptable. An annoyance, sure, but seeing as how they clearly devoted a shitload of effort into allowing extensive remapping of control schemes, I'd say the problems caused by the resolution issue is a free pass. It doesn't seem to be effecting everybody, so it's likely some kind of bug they had no idea to account for.
I'd say another important thing to note is please, please look at the system requirements when it comes to graphics cards.
TB didn't notice it, because he's running on an awesome rig, but the GPU requirements are pretty insane for the fidelity of the game, especially compared to the rest of the recommended specs (only an i5 and 8 gigs of RAM or so)
I figured my GTX 760 could run it, and the game was absolutely sluggish. Could barely manage 30fps or so in most places. My fault to some degree for not checking and noting that they recommended a minimum GTX 770 and a recommended GTX 980 when it comes to nvidia cards, but yeah...

i thought this was going to say something else :qsex101:
I was considering a day one purchase, but I'll let it go and see if we get some fixes first. I'm starving for another Plat game.

I haven't used it for what it's worth.

I think Squeenix actually handled the port

this worries me, I have a gtx 960 and I hope I can run the game on high at 1080p60. I don't need ULTRA HD MAX but high would be nice.

I've been referring to this a lot lately. The store page recommends a GTX 770 minimum, which in my experience probably means 'it'll run reasonably on lowest settings'.
You'll probably fare a little better than I did, but I can't vouch for how much... And I've already returned my steam purchase because it just wasn't snappy enough to be enjoyable.

Granted if I get a better card I might buy it again because I really want to play it but I'm not sure if that's in my future right now.

Oh no, the dreaded bloatware Borderless Gaming which has almost no system footprint, works automatically, and is only useful for countless PC games that don't have built-in borderless-window support.
Next thing you know people will be bitching that the might have to turn a setting down in a PC game.
Oh wait, Saint Durante has already observed that behavior becoming mainstream.

i've actually heard people with like between the minimum and recommended specs say the game runs like a dream but i'll have to buy it later myself to see how it runs.
Personal experience I'm having a few issues there and there.
I'm not holding a locked 60 FPS and I am dropping anywhere between 60fps and as low as 35 depending on the scene. This is at 1366x768 at "high" with blur turned off and no AA. I'd do 1600x900 which is my monitors native res but the game doesn't render at that at full screen and the performance difference is actually pretty big.
The game is VERY GPU bounded.
This is all with a i5 3470, GTX 950 and 16GB of DDR3-1600 RAM.
Additional note the game isn't utilizing my 950 to it's absolute fullest. It's sitting at 70% under heavy scenes rather than full tilt 95-99 like every other game does. So there's a serious optimization issue here.
But this is all personal so YMMV.
If you can get behind all of these issues you're purchasing a very good game from someone who's played it for maybe less then 2 and a half hours with great OST and story.
thats pretty fucked to be honest, i guess the recommended specs weren't lying. Not like the game is going anywhere so I'll hold out until I get better hardware or the game gets optimized.
It works fine for me during the actual gameplay, but the fullscreen resolution is indeed fucked and made me check my screen-settings because text and shit was smudgy and at weird resolutions. The shadowplays little circle was all stretched out too. Also, the cutscenes randomly drop to like 5fps. I hope they fix those things, the cutscenes are so cool. :frown:

no, don't give companies free passes for glitchy ports, thats awful
I mean, is this port that shit? There's the resolution problem, the cutscene framerates, and the fact that performance seems to be unstable, but beyond that what else is there besides the usual expectancy that keyboard & mouse are awful for this genre?

MGS:R, TLOK, Transformers Devastation, TMNT: MiM
I will concede that Nier is a very different type of game to these, but I have an i7-6700k with a 1080 and 32 gigs of ram. Extensive remapping of control schemes means nothing if the game runs like ass on a system like this. and no, i'm not maxing out either.

My point is that it's an obstruction to enjoying the game, I have nothing against the app. but I shouldn't HAVE to download borderless gaming UNLESS I specifically wanted to play in borderless, the game DOES NOT render by default at 1080, even though the settings will have you believe otherwise.

not much else, people are just blowing it out of proportion. especially frustrating for me because i have a clean install with a great system and the game still runs like shit, even on medium settings, UNLESS i use borderless gaming.

Platinum is not responsible for the port. Square Enix is.

I have a 290x, 16gb of ram, and an i5 4670 and it runs fine on max settings. This is what I'm talking about. It's really difficult to pin down optimization issues when there's thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of varying hardware profiles.
There will be a patch.
