t's not clear if it's related to that mysterious $3.9 billion "strategic investment" or not, but it looks like Apple could be about to throw some serious cash in Samsung's direction. According to a report published in the Korea Economic Daily, Apple is expected to purchase some $7.8 billion worth of components from Samsung this year, including displays, applications processors, and NAND flash chips -- all intended for use in iPhones and iPads. As the paper notes, Apple would become Samsung's single biggest customer if the deal goes through, although the two obviously aren't strangers to massive deals -- Apple has already famously run Samsung's flash memory supplies dry a few times. Maybe the iphone will finally get a display that doesn't drain the battery so fucking quickly.
why do we need to know about every business transaction
Oh boy, Apple is finally going to use quality parts for their products.
Oh boy, Apple is finally going to use quality parts for their products.
Well apple has been using samsung cpus for a while now. The ones that don't run stable at 1GHZ are underclocked and sent to apple. The stable ones go in the Galaxy S and the Wave.
Awesome. From my experience, Samsung builds sturdy phones. I've dropped mine onto concrete several times, and into a toilet once (while it was on) and it still works perfect, even the touch screen. As a side note, I lol every time one of my friends buys an iPhone and gets pissed when it breaks/malfunctions 2 weeks later.

I hear this every day from my friends on rogers. I too am happy with my samsung phone.
What the hell could possibly be worth $7.8 BILLION in components? If that's just case-work and internals, that's a shit-load of parts :I

I love how SA Spyder just rated anyone disliking apple as dumb. How very mature.
