Now I don't know for certain if it's a factor in Yale's grades, but given how the internet has become increasingly more useful and more available as opposed to the 60's, I'd say it is a contributing factor in the grading system inflation. Saying that it's a generational thing isn't really the answer and it isn't an answer that really makes sense in this context. I don't think it's that as it is that it's someone who lives in a world most of us will never see for almost all of his life. He just managed to get everything at the right place, at the right time in the face of wingnut hysteria and shortcomings of our current status-quo.

Well this is one of the least thought out arguments I've heard from this guy. I'm not even sure what he's really trying to say here. Everyone in the United States has a lot of self-esteem so they're more likely to vote for the candidate with the most self-esteem? It's kind of absurd to try to frame that as a bad thing. Trump's self-esteem isn't the reason he's an asshole, it just exacerbates then problem. Trump is popular because he was the least conservative out of all the conservatives. Every Republican candidate might as well have been a clone of every other person running for the GOP Candidacy with the sole exception of Trump. Nobody, not even Republicans wants another standard, run-of-the-mill Conservative in the whitehouse except for southern biblethumpers. The GOP has been steadily pumping out political turds for years and Trump is just the golden turd of the bunch that makes the rest look bad by comparison. I mean his VP is a homophobic creationist that wants to ban abortion and remove the separation of church and state. It's not hard to get elected when that's effectively your competition.

Trump is getting support because he's anti-establishment and because he's a politician talking about issues that no one from far left to center right would talk about in fear of being painted as a racist/islamophobe/etc. If someone has some concerns (regardless if they are valid or not) with for instance immigration rates, you'd have to look very far to the right to find a politician even mentioning this. Politicians from the left will call you a racist while politicians in the middle will stay silent. And the guy you're going to find to raise this issue will probably be in support of building a fucking wall. It might be too extreme for that someone but they figured it's better than nothing. And they have been called racists/islamophobes/sexists/etc so much that they don't care anymore. Complete lack of middleground made people go to places they would have avoided in the past and they've found Trump. They don't care if he's a racist or sexist. That's not why people support him. He's anti-establishment and raises issues that everyone else avoided due to political correctness. He doesn't care, they don't care either. He could shoot a nun tomorrow and you'd barely notice any difference in the polls. Demonizing Trump and his supporters will not fucking work. Ever. You will not pull people away from him this way. The only way to do that would be to prove that he's not going to change the system or that his economy plan will ruin the US.

The reason Millenials and Boomers hate each others' guts is because they are mirror images of each other. Both born in time of relative prosperity, both raised without a singular adverse event changing the way their lives went, both living in an era where money became the king currency of value in both social and logistical circles, both born in the middle of changing temperaments and social values. Millenial journalism and activism is based literally and solely on absolutes with rather little fact checking or multisource congruent verification... just like Boomer journalism used to be before saner heads went back to the Murrow methodology. Both are cliqueish and rely on social pressure to sway judgment. If you really think authoritarianism is gone, wait about ten years, when the environment, economy and social logistics are at peak bullshit levels. You ain't seen shit yet.
