Does anybody believe in 'tempting fate'? (i.e. being jinxed) - General

One time, when i was planning a trip/activity with a bunch of friends and when i started to think of the event, it somehow ended up not happening. For example, everyone flaked out, stuff occurred, etc. have you ever had expectations about something(it doesn't have to be high expectations )and it just ended up either getting fucked up (bad luck, etc.) or happening the opposite way? throughout my life i have noticed this kind of weired occurrence and it does happen to me almost all the time i think and try to tempt fate so to say... one of the most famous jinxes of all time: [quote] RMS Titanic which was said to be unsinkable, then sunk on its maiden voyage[/quote]

The Titanic still would have sunk had it not been deemed unsinkable. If I give you a person's name, there are very good odds that you will meet a person of that name on the streets the next time you go out. If I don't give you a name, you will still meet that person and if I give a different name, the odds are just as good that you'll meet a person of that name. Dozens of things have happened in your life today that may have appeared to be directed by fate, but no one put the notion in your head at the start of the day, so you didn't notice them at all.

Yes. I think that if i tempt fate because i'm pretty much a cosmic butt-monkey i get the brunt of it.

Not exactly, I don't do it, but that's just a superstition. Still, there's no need to run across a road after having said; "It's fine, nobody'll run me over, watch!"
