If Donald Trump becomes president, will we this mark a new era in history?

In the past we've always had politicians run for president, but now we have the CEO for one of the largest corporations in the world, a man who holds a conglomerate on the real estate industry, who is running for president. Is this the beginning of a new era for the United States, and in turn, the world? The "dystopian" (or utopian, depending on how you look at it) worlds depicted in science fiction always had the corporations controlling the government from behind the scenes, but in real life are the first steps towards that future up front and in the spotlight? What do you think?
Note: I tried to keep this thread short, sweet, and to the point, given the attention span of most members here.
He'd be the richest. But I doubt he'll win.
Corporations already run this country.
If Donald Trump becomes president, Canada will see a spike in US immigrants.
He's a better choice than Obama. And he'll bring back the private sector, which the liberals drove away.

I wasn't aware that all stores and businesses in America were owned by the government under the liberal administration. Holy shit.
Donald trump is an attention-whoring retard who would make an absolutely shitty president and likely start a bunch of wars over pittances. Get this into your head. Corporations do NOT have your best interests at heart. They want to line their pockets with gold. They will fuck you every way they can in every available orifice. That's why they need to be regulated.

That doesn't make sense, nobody mentioned that. The Democrats drove them away with their anti-business policies. Just like what happened to Europe. It became too liberal, which created an unfriendly market for corporations, and all of the businesses left.

America is one of the world's largest corporate giants. Most of the world's most famous corporations are American corporations. And you're saying that America drove away the private sector?
Really?

Canada would be affected by Trumps win almost as much as America would, personally I'm moving to North Korea.

The corporations started here. But the jobs were outsourced to lower consumer prices.

Outsourcing lol....
You completely underestimate the amount of jobs that have been lost to robotics for the past 30 years, outsourcing is nothing.
He would probably just get pissed off and fire all the nuclear missiles.
Then causing an apocalypse.
So yeah I guess a new era in history.
The corporations started here. But the jobs were outsourced to lower consumer prices.
Not necessarily something the democrats did. Jobs have been outsourced to countries where they can pay people less ever since India and China started growing economically. See, Megacorporations can't survive if they worry about things like minimum wage and benefits and worker's rights.

Donald Trump is much smarter than you if you can't see that he's saying all this stupid shit to gain support from the radical right wing nutjobs in America. I personally believe he would make a terrible president, but he knows what he is doing. It's all a publicity stunt.
Do you actually think he believes any of that nonsense he is spewing?

You really have no idea what the fuck you're talking about, do you?
Liberal policies didn't create outsourcing.

Minimum wage and workers rights are good and all, to an extent. The liberals are always pushing for more and more regulations on businesses, too much in fact. And so the corporations can't thrive, and so they rebase their headquarters in some tiny mico-country, while building factories in China.

Obviously not. That's my point. I even posted saying as much this morning in the thread about his 'new conspiracy theory' in the news section.
My point is that America does not nead a cutthroat corporate businessman as a president if they want to maintain good diplomatic relations internationally. He's not exactly what one would call a 'people person'.

Of course he doesn't believe it, but he's a very intelligent man, and still a better choice than a liberal.

This.
Winning the presidential election has a lot more to with marketing yourself than being qualified. And if there's one thing Donald Trump can do, it's market himself.

It's funny to hear people say they want a businessman to run America like a corporation, which would entail raising the nations revenue stream and lowering its operating costs, or other words means raising taxes and cutting things like social spending.
Of course he doesn't believe it, but he's a very intelligent man, and still a better choice than a liberal.
A better choice? Not at all. He's an easily pissed off man and in the role of a leader that does not work well.
Of course he doesn't believe it, but he's a very intelligent man, and still a better choice than a liberal.
I think not. He's using shit tactics to gain idiots as voters, we all know what Republican social policies are like, etc. If the United States wants to drift closer to a fascist Oligarchy, then by all means, vote for him.
He'll probably win too. A lot of people hate Obama for his socialist policies, and are opposed to socialist healthcare.
a half-chewed piece of fruit would be a more effective president than donald trump
not to mention far more visually appealing

Oh man, please keep going.
You've not a clue what socialism is to any extent do you?
He'll probably win too. A lot of people hate Obama for his socialist policies, and are opposed to socialist healthcare.
Get this through your thick skull. I live in Canada. We have socialized healthcare here.
There is nothing wrong with Canada's healthcare system (though it could have shorter wait lists for minor procedures)
It saved my little brother's life when he needed brain surgery. The doctors were among the best anywhere in the developed world.

define socialism

Yes yes socialist policies. Fuck education.
