T-Mobile CEO John Legere decided to field questions about the “Binge On” program the company launched. Is it great? Is it throttling? The EFF has its thoughts. The organization also decided to participate in Legere’s Twitter Q&A which led to this gem:
Ohhh, not smart.
This fucking guy right here
I always thought the binge on was 3G just didn't count against my 4G,
I don't think that response is really gonna help his case in this situation... but that's just me. I don't know, I still like T-Mobile way better than the other carriers out there. Just would've been nice to make Binge On opt-in, honestly. But judging by this guys response, that's out of the window.
how does the ceo of a telecommunication company not know what the EFF is
how does the ceo of a telecommunication company not know what the EFF is
The same way the CEO of a pharmaceutical company thinks cancer is a fungus.
i need to jump ship to project fi already but i dont have the cash ararhrngrgnrhgn

Driving across the US, aside from a few patches in NM and north-west TX, I had coverage the whole time at 3G or 4G. The binge on thing really doesn't bother me at all.
john legere is a funny man
i need to jump ship to project fi already but i dont have the cash ararhrngrgnrhgn
Project Fi is nice (current subscriber here), but it does primarily use T-Mobile and Sprint, so you're not escaping them by switching. And hey, if service sucks where you live (like T-Mobile and Sprint do with me), using wifi for your service instead is pretty damn spiffy.
how does the ceo of a telecommunication company not know what the EFF is
Like how pretty much everyone else who isn't really tech oriented doesn't know who they are? Just because you're the CEO of a tech company doesn't mean you know shit about tech or some of the main entities regarding tech. Even though it makes sense that you should, that's not the case a lot of the time. Most CEO's are essentially just businessmen who really couldn't give a shit about the ethics of their company as long as their customers aren't leaving them and they're still making money.
could this dude come off as more of a egotistic facetious piece of shit? "who the fuck are you" who the fuck are you? ceo of some budget cell phone company piggy backing off the sprint network whoa watch out yall
ceo of some budget cell phone company piggy backing off the sprint network whoa watch out yall
What?

You know the person is pulling up bullshit slides when the answer is "a um proprietary program does a thing to another thing that makes everything better for your thing"
It really doesn't matter i he knows what the eff are or not his response is just about the most unprofessional he could have possibly made it.

He must have used Harper's guilt-by-association autoblocker (when it still worked?).
Isn't Project Fi just T-Mobile + Sprint?
Isn't Project Fi just T-Mobile + Sprint?
Yep. You probably get put on Sprint's absolutely horrendous LTE network most of the time because Sprint pimps out their network to the lowest bidder. While Sprint being able to roam on Verizon is what really makes it decent, most of these areas are no longer being leased by Sprint and you're no longer capable of roaming on Verizon networks in many places. By being directly tied only to Sprint and not the "extended" Sprint network you're literally getting all the worst parts. Sprint isn't really capable of operating top notch LTE in most areas and doesn't even have the licenses to do such so. In most places which have LTE you might see 15-20mbps tops unless they roll out the tri-band which unless you live in a fairly dense location, it won't happen. It would be wonderful if you was a true T-Mobile with Sprint where T-Mobile isn't but the way John Legere worded it when asked about Project Fi it definitely seems like the other way around. Although of course he most definitely is a CEO of a company competing against Project Fi. I'm not knowledgeable about Project Fi though, I'd really love to know more. [editline]8th January 2016[/editline] This John Legere thing though... I'm usually on the T-Mobile bandwagon circlejerk but, there's hell to pay now. Hopefully this pressures T-Mobile into handling this a little more consumer friendly. As it stands you can't actually turn this off on the T-Mobile website because it's conveniently always "unavailable". There's absolutely no reason this shit should even be opt-out on Unlimited plans either.
You can turn off the binge on through the website, its just very well hidden.
The same way the CEO of a pharmaceutical company thinks cancer is a fungus.
what
what
My bad, it was a "Health Care" company, not a pharmaceutical company http://thinkprogress.org/health/2015/02/24/3626567/nevada-assemblywoman-cancer-fungus/ And it might be bogus because it's thinkprogress and the "source link" says nothing about it, neither does her wikipedia entry. I'm glad you asked, I'll pay better attention next time something like that is posted on SH.
