it's strange they actually had speech in this trailer, i wonder if they'll have it in game?
I hope not, that's what made Lego games special.

love the LEGO humor, and this looks sweet as fuck.
the fact that they have speech is rather odd...but if it's in the game I won't be complaining

Most likely. They're having it in LEGO Batman II.
Fucking sweet
I like the idea of speech. The story telling in LEGO games were horrible because it was hard to understand.
Any games involving LOTR are good.

True, but it allowed for some comical scenes.
I think they didn't use speech because body language is pretty much universally understood, so you could have your 3 year old brother play it and understand whats going on. More recently young kids have been using digital messaging via text, email, xbox live, phone, or whatever to communicate, and they don't get a chance to read someone's body language. LEGO probably realized this and threw in voices because the kids probably would have a harder time understanding if it was just body movements.
Best film trilogy getting immortalisation via a Lego game, couldn't ask for anything better.

We could also look at it in a more obvious way. There's no reason Lego figures can't talk. In every previous Lego game aside from the Tt ones, they could talk. The reason it was done in the first place was the difficulty of using the voices in the game, and so they thought it would be easier to just not use voices at all. It was cheaper and faster, and people liked it so they continued to do it for the rest of the games. Well, LotR is a ton of talking, and it's incredibly hard to stream line the game when almost every aspect needs to be described or detailed to make sense.

i never was able to follow the movies
although i saw them when i was like 7 years old
I know it'll never happen, but I'd love to see Lego-ized versions of other game franchises
LEGO games have such an awesome charm to them.
I played Lego Batman and it was surprisingly awesome. This might be worth a rental at least.
I actually hope they have a minimum of speech. One of the main charms of the "Lego X" games was they way they told the story through mime and slapstick.
I've been waiting for this for SO LONG!
Now we just need Lego Pokemon.
Looks epic.
And while I do admit I find the voices a bit off-putting after so many games with silence, I remind you all that the true LEGO classics did it this way too:
