I've been toying with this idea for a while now where the EDM producers of the MGR work together to produce an EDM mix. EDM is what got me into producing music and it's mostly what I produce, so I would love nothing more than to organize an album/mix. "What's a mix?" you may ask. A mix in terms of EDM is multiple tracks blended seamlessly into one long performance. Armin Van Buuren's A State of Trance yearly mixes are very popular, and many DJs also release their own radio show or podcast mixes when they're not doing live mixes in a club. Here's an example of Armin's podcast: As of now, I'm not sure who can mix this as I don't own any DJ equipment, but I do plan on saving for a cheap turntable. However, I'm not really too worried at this point as I would prefer to have the tracks finished first. For genre, we decided on house so that we can stick around 124-131 BPM. For your track, you should make a long enough intro and outtro for the person mixing so that they may blend tracks smoothly. So, is anybody else interested in taking part in this? I've wanted to do this for a while now and I'm finally feeling ambitious enough to put it together. Right now, I'm not going to assign a deadline, so we can take our time to figure things out. Also, I may have my own DJ equipment soon and might be able to the mix myself. I'm going to limit participants to 8 right now. If you would like to sign up, please include an example of some EDM you have worked on/produced, whether it be an entire track or partial bit. This is because space is tight and I would like to make sure those on board know what they're doing. So, any other thoughts about this? I'm excited to get this into motion.
So nobody is interested in doing this?
I could contribute with some house. but a minimum of 135bpm? Most house is around 124-131bpm. My track is 126bpm [editline]22nd May 2011[/editline] If we're gonna keep a tempo around 140bpm I could contribute with some dubstep/jungle instead I guess.
I want to join, haven't tried to do dance music, but I guess I can try!

A mix need to maintain a constant tempo and if something is stretched or compressed too much, it just doesn't sound right. I've got some House I would like to contribute but it's around 122bpm.
This wont work unless it's the same genre. Having it set at around 135-140 sounds to me like you could mix some fast house, or some slow dubstep, not to mention that different genres have different drum patterns, so you would be so much better off saying that everyone should produce the same genre of music (say house for example) and keep the tempo between 124-131, that way all the tracks would be able to be mixed without too much difficulty. And another thing, you seem to focus on the progression key of the mix, and from my experience as a DJ, this isn't vital, sure it sounds good, but you can easily get away with mixing 2 songs of completely different keys, and I doubt half the producers here don't even know how to produce a song in a single key either (no offense, unless you learn it, you're probably not going to know) [editline]23rd May 2011[/editline]
I could contribute with some house. but a minimum of 135bpm? I suppose you're right, the reason I said house or trance was because of the drum patterns, both stick to a four on the floor pattern. I could do a slower tempo since everyone seems to want to stick around 124-131. No problem for me.
124-131 sounds a lot better to me =)
I have a the demo version of FL studio 10. There is a possibility I could have a musical presence on this album, but if that doesn't work, I will gladly make some album art for this.
See what you can come up with, post it here.
you gonna update the op or what? :v:
Yeah, sorry, been working a lot lately. [editline]26th May 2011[/editline] There, updated :P
I'm nearly finished with my first song, previews of what I've done is on my soundcloud.
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/QL33k.png[/img_thumb]:saddowns:
Should work now And here's a link: http://soundcloud.com/fellow_chive
Can you post a link? Because when I search your name I found this: http://soundcloud.com/kinomakoto/black-jack-destiny-taiyou-no-hana And I don't think that kinomakoto is you...
Sounding good JackDestiny, I'll update OP once I get home from work.
Can I contribute with two songs? [editline]27th May 2011[/editline] I got a progressive house and a electro-song
Sure.
Too artsy? Also, take a guess as to which album inspired this design.
I think it should be something related to club-music. It looks nice though.
When I get this track completed, would you be interested in using it? BPM is 130.
Yeah, sounds pretty cool so far. I'd like to hear more though, make it longer :) [editline]3rd June 2011[/editline] Also, improve the mix. The sounds are too low and the snare sticks out way too much. It's far from bad, it sounds great at 1:45. Those percussions stick out a bit much still. Excited to hear the finished product.
I'll do it, but i need to work with 128bpm, since it's mostly electro house and 128bpm is da bes.

I've made a few house tracks at 130bmp if you want to count me in.
I'd prefer if you made something completely new just for the album. I'll update the OP once I get home from work.
I'd prefer if you made something completely new just for the album. I'll update the OP once I get home from work.
Oh, that makes things complicated for me also, then. I was planning on the track I posted being on my own album. Would it still be ok if I used the track on my own release? It'll probably be released after this, if that makes any difference.
I'd prefer if you made something completely new just for the album. I'll update the OP once I get home from work.
I wasn't implying that I would use a track already made, just saying that I have some experience. Also is any style within the house genre acceptable?
