East Coast, how are you preparing for the Hurricane?

The Hurricane. We all know its coming, and I know for a fact some of us are preparing, even drastically.
Im in Howard county, Maryland, and my family just got a 5000w gas generator, and enough food to last through a basic power outage.
Hell, some people I know are boarding windows, building bomb shelters, praying to jesus/buddah/other religious figure, getting like 8 and a half generators, and enough preservable food to open a restaurant chain.
That being said, what are you doing about it? (feel free to exagerate)
Nothing. I live in Lancaster, PA, and apparently only getting about three hours of scattered t-storms and 7-8mph winds.
Parents on Long Island NY however are just padding up their basement with newspapers and towels for when it inevitably floods. They weren't evacuated or anything so they won't get it TOO bad. LI just always floods.
Just recently packed clothes and other time-killing materials (books, iPod, etc)
Jacksonville NC, and as previously stated we bought a flashlight.
And it's a SPECIAL hurricane flashlight, with a built in radio and siren.
I tested the siren, and if the annoyance of my mother is any indication of usefulness, then it's a great piece of equipment.
Re-arranging the living room. Supposedly mom and her bf bought new furniture and want to get rid of the old stuff.
I'm currently in Halifax, and it will be interesting to see how strong Irene is when she lands here. I'm hoping that the power doesn't go out since I had throat surgery this morning so most of my food I have stocked up might melt or go bad. Otherwise, we plan smart here for hurricanes, especially after Juan wrecked the province.
I also leave for Goose Bay, NL in about a week where the storms headed when last I checked, but it's far enough north and inland to be about a non-issue
Good luck out there.
I'm from Maine, didn't stock up on anything.
Richmond, VA here. We are trying to consume the perishables that go really fast in the fridge so they don't go bad when the power goes out. Other than that just bought some water bottles...
Where I live might be getting 'bout 60 MPH winds and probably power outages. We have a generator, candles, lights, and everybody is sleeping on the lowest floor of my house the night it is supposed to hit us.
Good luck guys!
Good luck everyone.
Mountain Dew Throwback, PC in the garage and I'm good. New Jersey
I made two chocolate pizzas full of drugs.
Me and my siblings will be sleeping my sister's room in the basement. I got my laptop and PSP for entertainment, hopefully there won't be much of a hurricane the moment it hits us. Massachusetts
I'm playing video games and browsing FP.
My dads being activated to New York as a advance group(National Guard). His directing vehicles and aircraft from Illinois to New York, 1000 miles... No idea how long his gonna be gone.
Currently just browsing Facepunch. Tracking the damn storm. Currently I'm in a "Extreme Risk" in Upstate New York. I'm not really prone to floods but the winds could do something. I'm just going to take it slow on Sunday. Talk to the folks and have some fun. I just hope the power doesn't go out.
Fairfax Station, Virginia.
Heading down to Southern VA tomorrow for college, leaving earlier than normal to (hopefully) avoid the rain.
I'm gonna be fine down there though, it'll storm but I'll deal.
I live on the western border of Dauphin County, I think I'm safe here.

Doubt you'll flood but be ready to get upstairs in case you do. If there are any windows going into it seal the fuck out of them. Water will find a way in, and there will be a lot of rain.

I really don't think it's gonna hit Lebanon County that hard either. Philly will probably get the worst of it.
Tallahassee is untouched.
In inland Texas, it's REALLY FUCKING DRY. While you on the East Coast are preparing for a hurricane, I actually want a hurricane.
I'm in Texas, damn we're really feeling the storm where I am right now.
Shit's gonna get real soon.
I wish we were getting a hurricane. I'm sick of it averaging over 100+ degrees.
Yeah fuck it's like the 72nd day of 100+ degree heat. It fucking blows. It hasn't rained here since.. what last summer?
I was going to go on a party barge with some friends on a lake nearby but it's down 31 FEET this year. Dunno how that'll work out.
I always hope for a hurricane to hit somewhere southeast so some rain might come up on here.
When Ike hit they actually drained the lake I live by in preparation for increased water levels. I live in Montgomery about 100 feet from lake Conroe. Ike passed directly over my house but it was dark so I couldn't see the eye of it which was a disappointment. It's odd watching all the trees and rain blow one way before the eye passed then all blowing the opposite way after the eye passed.
I'm doing jack squat. I've been through worse without preparation before. Including other hurricanes. The worst that happened was a tiny tree with a birdhouse on it falling over. The birdhouse was saved before the tree fell, by the way.
Well, everyone in my northwest NJ town bought everything from the local A&P, and are convinced that they won't be able to leave their houses, but in reality we're only getting shit tons of rain and hardly any wind.
Anyone live near the water or rivers that open into the coast?
