This is really only to you British Facepunchers. You don't have to be into Eastenders, but in the news recently there has been some 'outrage' sparking about the recent storyline in Eastenders. It involves a 'baby swap' in which one mother has a stillborn and swaps it with her friend's alive baby. There have been people who have called this 'insensitive' and outrageous', but there have been worse things on TV. What do you guys think? Is it wrong to depict baby swapping or are the TV critics massive pussies? Discuss!
They need to realise that it is just a story.
I think the story is ridiculous but I'm not offended by it. By ridiculous, I mean that never in a million years would this happen and the mother whose baby was stolen must be thick to not realise it's not her child
I don't really watch eastenders though so maybe I'm missing something
The storylines in it are almost as bad as hollyoaks
Do you think the other mother will notice?
First thought when reading title:

It's especially ridiculous in the sense that other storylines have never been complained about before but are just as bad, if not worse. In one episode, woman hangs herself. Meanwhile, other woman stabbing herself. Meanwhile, dodgy guy dealing stolen jewelery gets beaten up by dodgy seller.

In the hospital the other mother was shouting "That's not my baby!" but no-body believed her.
I thought that the horrible quality of Eastenders helped people to understand the immense lack of realism the show can provide with. I guess I misunderstood some of you Brits.
I think the media needs to unplug its tampon
Sounds like they stole it from the Bible, they're gonna need to cut the live baby in half.
I don't watch it but I saw an article on the BBC website about it, 3400 got mad about it.
eastenders is fucking stupid
baby swaps are also strange and horribly unnecessary
Eastenders - bad acting, bad story, bad time slot.
I knew Eastenders was dramatic, but I had no idea it was "dead baby" dramatic!
Eastenders is a crock of dumb-gossip orientated shite.
They need to realise that it is just a story.
The writers caved and are changing the story. Oh dear... fiction and reality are so hard to tear apart, aren't they...
dot cotton is fucking hot
Story isn't so much inappropriate, as just fucking stupidly unbelievable. I mean, yeah what a great idea for a holiday storyline, dead babies and baby theft! My main issue is how unlikely this whole situation is to happen ever in real life.
The worst thing about this story was seeing Jessie Wallace (Kat) without any make-up on.
Just butt-hurt people complaining because they can.
I don't even watch the show, I'm just sick of seeing this shit on the news.
Does anyone else find it oddly suspicious that Ben aged to pubescence while in jail, while all of his younger kid friends never aged a day?
While my girlfriend watched this I played the imperial march from my computer everytime Ronnie was onscreen.
If she's swapping it for sex well that's just a bit too much, otherwise I don't see the problem here.
Most if not all Soaps are shit anyway my mum watches them every time she puts em on i just walk out the room, but the british public are incredibly oversensitive and tend to make a fuss over nothing as usual, sad bastards imo.

Coronation Street on it's day pulls of drama very well, in fact very well that it should just drop the "soap" tag altogether and just be considered a drama.
the pain of the whole show is one.shit storylines 2.shit actors 3.GOD DAMN KAT IS hidoes without makeup
/caps
Well they did get a shit load of advertising from this.

This looks like a similar show to Coronation Street (I don't watch either)

Just finished watching the Omnibus because I was interested to see what all the fuss was about.
Never thought EastEnders would go this far though, there have some pretty stupid plots in the past but baby swapping is a bit overboard. If they are changing it I'd be very surprised, just goes to show that the general public is oversensitive.
God damn, why the fuck did I have to be British.
Shouldn't they have about 7 kids already considering Eastenders is based around the east end of London?
