Metallica will perform live at this year's BlizzCon gaming convention in Anaheim, California. As with previous years, the performance will take place during the convention's closing ceremony on Saturday, November 8. "We're thrilled to have Metallica blowing out our speakers at BlizzCon this year," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "After two full days of epic gaming and intense eSports action, an earth-shaking concert is the perfect sendoff for everyone at the show and watching from home." In addition to the BlizzCon Virtual Ticket, DirecTV customers in the United States have the option to watch the show from home by ordering the BlizzCon 2014 Pay Per View event, priced at $39.99 USD (includes access to the Virtual Ticket online stream).
http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/general_music_news/metallica_to_perform_at_blizzcon_gaming_convention.html
I'm having lan party with 30 friends or so, we'll be streaming blizzcon during the entire time. This announcement made me think it's gonna be the best LAN party ever, seriously
I want to see the stats regarding who buys that PPV/Blizzcon virtual stream/goes to the con just to see Metallica and don't care about or watch a single gaming related thing. I imagine the numbers will be substantial, we're not exactly talking about a two bit dive bar act Blizzard found two blocks from the convention hall after all.
Christ, I though they actually had a career. At the very least, some self respect.
Blizzcon always has some cool names playing, a few years ago they had tenacious D
Christ, I though they actually had a career. At the very least, some self respect.
I was under the impression that Blizzcon-goers were their target audience. Are they not?
Christ, I though they actually had a career. At the very least, some self respect.
I'm sorry, I fail to see how playing at one of the biggest gaming conventions of the year equates to a lack of self-respect.
Christ, I though they actually had a career. At the very least, some self respect.
I think this is really cool. I don't know where is the problem with Metallica playing at Blizzard. I'd take 40 tickets.
Should be a good show, they're newer material might be the acoustic equivalent of dicks to your face but they still put on good live shows.
I wonder if there will be a follow up article with the title "Thousands gouge their eardrums out when subjected to Metallica's 'Lulu' live."
blizzcon attendees are p much their target demographic, so great, i guess
Aw man I guess they couldn't afford broken ankle kid this year :( Or Keanu Reeves who attended with him too.
I wonder if there will be a follow up article with the title "Thousands gouge their eardrums out when subjected to Metallica's 'Lulu' live."
jfc lulu wasnt that bad
Let's not talk about Lulu in respect for the dead Anyway Metallica has a lot more terrible stuff than Lulu I'm sure the concert will be nice though, they also have great material
megadeth or bust
I'm sorry, I fail to see how playing at one of the biggest gaming conventions of the year equates to a lack of self-respect.
lel sweaty nerds I guess?
lel sweaty nerds I guess?
I will have you know sir I have checked the statistics and I do not sweat higher than a normal person does I resent this.
jfc lulu wasnt that bad
Says the one with the Lou Reed avatar (off the Metal Machine Music album, no less).
jfc lulu wasnt that bad
It had great riffs, but Lou Reed ruined it.
Says the one with the Lou Reed avatar (off the Metal Machine Music album, no less).
hey it helps me get to sleep at night okay
So this means we'll have some Metallica cosplayers right?
So a washed up game company is hosting a convention with a washed up band?
So a washed up game company is hosting a convention with a washed up band?
has the term washed up changed to mean extremely profitable and well liked? Metallica sure has some eh albums but god damn they are still respected as one of the most influential metal bands of all time along side anthrax, motorhead and iron maiden. and didn't blizzard just release a new expansion onto they're game that for the past 8 years kept and extremely healthy player base? Or have I been living under a rock?
jfc lulu wasnt that bad
one of the worst metal albums of the decade "wasn't that bad"?
At least it isn't Blink-182 like last year.
At least it isn't Blink-182 like last year.
Blink 182 could have pulled it off great. But of course, Tom had to mess it up and so did the sound engineer. I hope it wont be a socially awkward ass crowd this year like last year though.
They have resources and funds for outdated no-name bands, but none or very few for their own video game
At least the people who go to Blizzcon probably like Metallica, last year they had Blink-182 and they played one of their best shows in recent years and the crowd just wasn't into it.
Really they should have hired GWAR I mean come on look at their new singer
