There were civilizations and empires in Africa well before the Europeans showed up. Muslims had reached Africa and established trade with them long before any silly accented, white safari helmeted Englishman started laying claim.

Well, really, Africans have been subjugating themselves. Like I said, there were African empires that warred with and subjugated each other long before Muslims arrived and well before Europeans did. They weren't naive, peaceful simpletons in a garden of Eden.

As for how Muslims arriving created conflict, they introduced their markets and currency which created more ways for Africans to subjugate each other through foreign-backed wealth and power over resources wanted by Muslims.

First, not sure how they could have done anything better considering they would never have been there if not to subjugate and rape the resources of Africa. Second, American ideals were embraced by the newly freed African nations and look at what happened, they became instantly corrupt "democracies" and remain corrupt to this day.

It's a strange mix of their old culture with ours and any of our involvement beyond healthcare seems to be detrimental or fruitless. We can't "fix" Africa because they are not a broken Europe or broken America, and we shouldn't treat or view them as such.
