Among the hazing abuses, which Andrew Lohse also alleged in an op-ed published in a campus newspaper, were that pledges had to “swim in a kiddie pool of vomit, urine, fecal matter, semen and rotten food products; eat omelets made of vomit; [and] chug cups of vinegar.” Sexual assaults also have drawn attention. The college disclosed last fall that its safety department had received reports of 24 forcible sex offenses in 2012, up from 15 the year before. The definition of those offenses encompasses forcible rape, sodomy or fondling, as well as sexual assault with an object.
That sounds like quite a fucking shithole. I can get behind wild college life but making somebody swim in shit is across every single acceptable line.

Someone at my uni also got put on the sex offenders register for running around naked during a rubgy initiation and getting reported.

Girl at my old school did so (near an elementary school next to campus) and just got a warning. City or campus cops?
safety department had received reports of 24 forcible sex offenses in 2012
No school should have that amount of offenses, it's simply abhorrent and a terrible environment for people to live in. Shut it down.

Apparently some of it involved brooms shoved up asses. On a side note, our school football team is bad now.

I assume normal police, I'm not sure my university had a dedicated police force or even if such a thing is possible in the UK. I think the deciding factor was a parent reporting him while with their child.

It doesn't matter if 'muh sports' kids are kicked out, they committed a horrible crime and should be punished as such. I'm sick and fucking tired of colleges repeatedly coddling the sports players. Kick them out and put them on the Sex Offenders list. 'buh-buh muh drunk college mistake', well sorry buddy, you shouldn't have sexually assaulted someone.
No school should have that amount of offenses, it's simply abhorrent and a terrible environment for people to live in. Shut it down.
It's worth noting that Dartmouth College is also an Ivy League school, not some state party school.

How fucked in the head do you have to be to even come up with something like this?
And people wondered why I didn't apply to more well known or prestigious colleges. It's because of shit like this.
I actually knew a grad student who got raped at Dartmouth College, I believe she got kicked out after that because she had a breakdown and they refused to listen.
What the fuck.
Turns out she didn't get kicked out but she had to go to some seminar thing for underage drinking (she was like 19-20 when she started grad school), and she had to raise money in order to pay for it, you can watch the video here: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/injustices-at-dartmouth-updated-with-new-goals#home
I would think someone who got into an ivy league college would have more respect for themselves then hang with a bunch of frat losers.
That pool sounds like it might be disgusting if the semen contamination was above acceptable levels. Assuming a 20 gallon pool, semen levels should not exceed 100 fluid ounces.
Wait, you think I condone it?
I didn't mean that you did, I apologize profusely. I was put into a rage over the situation beforehand and I am seriously sorry.

I can't say I would be proud to graduate from a college like this. This is downright disgusting. A little partying is fine, but when it gets out of control like this, it honestly makes everyone look bad. I'm curious as to how widespread this sort of thing is in college to be frank, if it's a generational problem or just a few colleges that are guilty of this.
No school should have that amount of offenses, it's simply abhorrent and a terrible environment for people to live in. Shut it down.
yeah you know i agreed with you up until that last sentence how come when people on fp feel the need to express their disagreement with something, they get so fucking mad about it that they say totally outlandish things just because. like no, you idiot, they're not shutting down one of the arguably most prestigious colleges in the united states because of 24 sexual assaults. are you intentionally not using your brain or what? i guarantee you that those kids have been kicked the fuck out of there [editline]17th April 2014[/editline]
I was put into a rage over the situation beforehand and I am seriously sorry.
this explains it, we now have an understanding [editline]17th April 2014[/editline] i like it when people on FP actually eat their words instead of trying to argue their way out of it and digging themselves deeper and deeper. well done, zillamaster. you are a good person
