Laredo, Texas (CNN)Donald Trump on Thursday landed in this Texas border town to meet with local officials, speak with law enforcement and tour the border between the U.S. and Mexico that has become a contentious symbol in his campaign for president. Four hours later, he was gone. Speaking from in front of a road leading in and out of Mexico after a roughly 15-minute meeting with the mayor, city manager and other Laredo officials, Trump said he had learned a lot about the situation along that border and once again called for sweeping efforts to address the "huge problem" of illegal immigration. And in this city that is 95% Hispanic, Trump didn't back away from his trademark confidence and claimed a broad base of support from Latino voters. "I think I'll win the Hispanic vote," Trump told reporters after touring the World Trade Bridge in Laredo, Texas. "Over the years, thousands and thousands of Hispanics have worked for me." The visit was the culmination of more than a month of attention centered around Trump's branding of undocumented Mexican immigrants as killers and rapists -- remarks that have drawn condemnation from the Republican establishment but also helped rocket him to the top of the polls. Trump is leading several national surveys for the Republican presidential nomination -- snagging 24% in a poll released Monday -- but his trip here also came as he aimed to shake the focus off of his comments questioning the war hero status of Republican Sen. John McCain, comments that threatened his rise in the polls. And aside from a group of protesters, several of them veterans, who greeted Trump at the airport, Trump largely avoided the topic.
http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/23/politics/donald-trump-border-visit-texas/index.html
"Rapist's and drug dealers" ... Yeah, you'll win them for sure
So he hired rapists, murderers and drug dealers?
i hope he realizes that there are more Hispanics in the US than "thousands and thousands"
"My maids will vote for me, they better vote for me."
ya, just like Hitler got the jewish vote. i'm no politician (i'm a STEM major, but since politicians like to pretend to do my job let me for a second do theirs) but i'd say if you want to attract a demographic's vote, you probably shouldn't insult them, promise to continue and aggravate the cross-boarder problem, promise breakup that demographics families, and deride and belittle this demographic's core issues.
i hope he realizes that there are more Hispanics in the US than "thousands and thousands"
He's saying he has employed "thousands and thousands"
He's saying he has employed "thousands and thousands"
I think his implication is that those "thousands and thousands" will be his Hispanic voting block since they're employed by him.
Maids and lobby attendants are all you need to win, right?
"I've employed thousands and thousands of hispanics" Yup, and the best part is that a lot of those aren't US citizens because they're working in the factories making your suits. :downs:
fuck off donald
Oh is it the next episode of that Trump-Sitcom already?
Is this dude real, fuck.
vote for me or you're fired!
how did this guy get rich again cus he certainly do not have the brains
Donald was hired by outside forces to become a candidate in order to discourage people from republicans
"Over the years, thousands and thousands of Hispanics have worked for me."
Heck I sure wouldn't vote for some of the bosses I've worked for
how did this guy get rich again cus he certainly do not have the brains
He married a wealthy woman. No seriously, that's how he got rich...
So he hired rapists, murderers and drug dealers?
No but he has plans to recruit more pimps and pushers.
It's funny how he think because they have worked or work for him they are going to want to support him for election. You would think the opposite would happen, to them he would still be the big boss who didn't give them enough workplace security, wages, etc. It does honestly sound like he is doing this for a laugh, or for promotion or something. He is saying so many unpopular things while playing completely naive to the criticism of his statements. I know a lot of his fortune is inherited, but you would think a businessman would at least be a bit skilled at establishing positive PR?
I paid people to work for me, so they'll vote for me.
