STORY--->
Way back when Twitter was still new and no one knew what the term "tweet" meant, I made a bunch of accounts. I thought it would be funny to use names from companies and stuff, see what I could do with it. One of them was @mozilla
Well after about 20 minutes I realized how stupid the idea was and totally forgot about it. Although I would log into each account from time to time, I didn't much do anything with them... I just used my personal account.
A few days ago I get a random tweet from this guy asking me to email him (it appears he deleted the status update). I'm assuming he visited my blog and saw the Twitter widget on the sidebar.
Anyways, I noticed he was a lawyer for Mozilla so I tweeted back and then he tweeted back. I was going to ignore him but I've already had my run in with Google lawyers so I figured I should at least say 'sup?'.
We exchanged a few emails that was basically him asking me to transfer the ownership of the Twitter account to him. I hesitated a bit, I thought about bargaining. But then I remembered how Twitter let CBS TV steal my twitter account @cbs (yes I registered that name too). You can see me crying about it here. So I was like, fuck it, and let him have it. He was really cool about it. Asked politely and all that shit. So whatever, he can have it.
So then he asked me for my address because he wanted to thank me, so I obliged but didn't expect anything (remember that run in with Google? I made a free Cyanide and Happiness app for Android called Simply Cyanide that became extremely popular and at the request of Explosm.net was shut down. The peeps over at Explosm.net said they respected the fact I didn't try to make money off it and wanted to send me a swag bag to say thank you-- I never received it-- fuck 'em).
But today, DING-DONG. Door bell rings and its FedEx with my swag bag. Its cool because he knew I had kids (obviously from my blog) so he sent me some stickers for them. Too bad I'm gonna keep them for myself.

tl;dr version: I claimed the Twitter name @mozilla and Mozilla corp bought it off me for 2 t-shirts, 3 buttons and some stickers.
So Mozilla is a pretty cool guy but its ironic because I'm posting this from Chrome :smug:
Awesome
That's really nice of them
I wish I got free swag for claiming names.
:sigh:
brb going to register Opera on Diaspora :v:
Didn't know they had such cool merchandise.
You gave it to them? For that?
Although I can't say you should've asked for more, they are a great company.
Technically I gave it to them for free, and he just hooked me up afterwards.
-snip-
Awesome story. It was nice that you just gave it to them, they are a good bunch.
That's nice for a big company.
I wish I had Foxkeh stickers.
Hah, cool.
I like the stickers.
I want them. To put on things.
Pretty nice.
Those are some sweet shirts, I was thinking about buying some before.
That's pretty awesome.
That was pretty cool of him.
I want some Foxkeh stickers.
I want those shirts.
Very cool of him. And cool of you to not be a stuck up asshole about it, when you were essentially domain squatting...
I use Opera after firefox pissed me off one too many times. Now I realize that the only difference between the two is appearance.
Oh and Firefox actually happens to let flash crash instead of the entire fucking browser.
Cool. And all them stickers and t-shirts are helping them advertise too hah
I'm slightly jealous!
Good on Firefox for actually working it out with you and not just trying to sue you for the name.

Wait is that a Firefox condom on the t-shirt?
You'll be a walking advertisement with those t-shirts.
I once sent in an email to Dell thanking them for making a durable laptop (I dropped it from 10ft and it still works fine) and they sent me a free bluetooth mouse and laptop bag
I'd never use the stickers, they are pretty awesome and it would be sweet to keep them in your office for conversation.
That's pretty cool. You should scan those stickers, I want an avatar like that.
I love when companies give out swag.
I once got a box full of swag from Valve.
You're a smart man for making those accounts early.
