I don't see how a game like Evolve can be praised so highly
Sure the basic fundamentals of it seem like fun, but unless you like playing the same game mode, pretty much relentlessly, it's just a bore.
Especially for the asking price, THEN all of the DLC. I think it's absolutely pathetic.

There's more than one gamemode and future ones will be free?
Also none of the DLC is at all essential, so you hardly NEED to buy it.

The problem is not in variety, the problem is what people chooses to play.
Like in halo, you could always find a TDM or CTF game, but the other game modes had much less people or sometimes even nobody.
As Angry Joe said, everyone wants to play either Hunt or Evacuation, meaning most of the other gamemodes are not used/Played.

Which is completely fair, but let's not pretend like they've been cutting off portions of the game and you NEED it to play.
With how much he seemed to hate the progression, DLC, price, monotony, and then gave it a 5. I thought it would be worse.
That's the problem with review scores I guess.
Edit: I guess I need to clarify given the dumbs. My perception of the tone of angry joe made me think that he'd rate the game much worse than a straight down the middle average.

Yea, 5 may be. I'm just speaking in terms of how Joe described the game and it's problems. Besides 1-2 minutes talking about one good game mode or how the balance is good with you knowing your whole team, but the way the game is portrayed in the video is pretty terrible. The score might match the game, but it didn't feel like the score matched the 25minutes of review.

Played the Beta but jesus fuck it was a disappointment.
The MP gameplay was just a clusterfuck of everything going on with not even a clue where to look half the time and oh the running...

not a fan of joe because he acts like a person doing cocaine in a video with a rollercoaster of emotions that sometimes jump to completely bizarre opinions (one thing stuck in my mind was how he said something along the lines of "instead of making skins they should've made a proper campaign" meaning how little he probably knows about game production).
And no matter if you agree with his opinions or not (even though he makes fair points most of the time), the delivery matters. Would you rather listen to a guy scream for 30 minutes or a person who expresses pretty much the same points but just does it in a much professional manner? (tb for example)
Joe is becoming my favorite critic or whatever. I would feel totally ripped off if I paid 60 or more for that game.

Having a personal grudge against Joe's personality and impression still doesn't answer the question on why people praise this game like it's fucking amazing despite Joe blatantly showing you the major flaws of the game that make it fail.

well my reply was originally related to why people think that he's not an actual reviewer, i thought most of the people's opinions are the same regarding the game itself

Well, that and possibly certain unscrupulous individuals trying to make an example of what they perceive as a threat to their current "cushy" position (it's a possibility if nothing else). And by cushy position, I mean a universal position where they don't have to focus on major innovation and instead keep pushing the envelope of graphical realism so they can get away with selling us mere iterations, rather than put out distinct interesting variations and run the risk of losing simpletons who'd throw their toys out of the pram, when it reality such bumpkins would probably lap up anything you pour into the goddamn milk saucer so long as it still smells like gunpowder. You'd be surprised what some people would do to make sure things are comfortable and beneficial for them, even if their practices cause harm, loss, or even simply plain-old disappointment to the average Joe.
But when it comes to the consumer, it's most likely a combination of buyer's remorse and lying to oneself and others to convince themselves that they didn't make a mistake, especially when they dropped a frankly criminal amount of money on such a content-deficient title. They so direly want to like it so that they don't realise the horrifying truth that sometimes humans make poor choices and forget to properly judge the situation.
