Israel would lift the blockade on Gaza if the rules of the Hamas-controlled strip would prove they are interested in peace and halt all terror activities, President Shimon Peres said on Sunday. Addressing the Jewish Agency Assembly in Jerusalem, Peres said that Gaza militants have continued attacking Israel despite the fact that it had withdrew from the coastal enclave, saying that "there is no Israeli left in the Gaza strip. "We did not understand then, nor do we understand now, why after evacuating Gaza, its rulers started to fire thousands of missiles against our civilians. For what reason? For what purpose?," Peres Asked, adding that he felt the "question remains unanswered today." The Israeli president added that "would Gaza agree to peace, to negotiations, to denounce terror, to stop the building of tunnels, to halt the shooting of missiles, to cease the attempts to kidnap Israeli soldiers, and to release the abducted Gilad Shalit, there would be no closure or blockade," saying that if indeed Gaza turned toward peace, "it would have peace, and there would be no need for flotillas.” In his address, Peres underlined what he called Israel's "commitment to peace," saying that "during the Oslo negotiations, Israel agreed to the two-state solution, a Palestinian state living alongside a Jewish state." "We felt then, as we feel today, that for the two of us to live side by side in peace is right and better than living one inside the other in an incurable conflict,” Peres said. The President also commented on what he saw as attempts by radical groups to delegitimize Israel, saying that "delegitimizing Israel means to legitimize, directly or indirectly, lawless terror organizations like Al-Qaeda, Hamas, and Hezbollah, as well as their supporters, including dictatorial regimes that kill their own people with no regard or respect. Our efforts for peace will not and should not diminish." "They emanate neither from pressure nor from submission, but rather from ethical convictions and strategic interests,” Peres said.[/release] I think that if the Hamas stops fighting and the blockade will be dropped, it will be a lot easier to achieve peace with the Palestinians in the West Bank too. I am almost certain that it will happen with the Fatah, given this poll's results: http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/poll-most-palestinians-want-peace-with-israel-1.297196 However, I'm not sure the Hamas will accept peace just yet.
Then why wasn't it lifted during that cease-fire? Hm? Israel is lying out of their ass again.
Because Gilad Shalit wasn't released. Also, the past is different from the present.
yoo hoo i think it's a little dumb for israel to say "we would lift the blockade, if Gaze was peaceful".
bullshit
Because Gilad Shalit wasn't released. Also, the past is different from the present.
Because the Palestinians who weren’t even given a trial weren’t released.
And to the guy above me get a better source: 1st: Any source who claims there were "Palestinians" before 1967 is wrong. 2nd: You can't blame the Jews for "Stealing land" or something for the Stage 2 pic, that's what the UN assigned to each state and it's not like we stole any of it. 3rd: The land we got in the Stage 3 pic was through the war of Israeli independence which was started by the Arab countries, we defeated the Arab invaders and got this land fair and square. And 4th: The Stage 3 pic seems to hint that the Palestinians were living in an independent state or something, the truth is that in the first picture the British controlled all the land, in the second one it's the UN proposal for a two-state solution which the Arabs in Palestine rejected and that's why they don't have an independent state, and in the 3rd picture the west bank and Gaza were actually in control of Jordan and Egypt, respectively.

It's a little dumb for you to post this picture.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palestinians and that doesn't change anything, nothing in Israel's history shows it wanted peace all along
Why does it have to be so fucking impossible for Jews and Palestinians to grow the hell up and just live in one single country without constantly trying to fuck with each other?
It's a little dumb for you to post this picture.

1st: Any source who claims there were "Palestinians" before 1967 is wrong.
You know what it is referring to.
3rd: The land we got in the Stage 3 pic was through the war of Israeli independence which was started by the Arab countries, we defeated the Arab invaders and got this land fair and square.
No it wasn't, Israel attacked them first, then took some more lands. Call it preemptive if you want; there wasn’t enough proof proving so. And yes, its illegal gaining territory through war. It happened in the past, and back then it wasn't considered stealing. 3. It's the war of Israeli independence, where 5 Arabic countries ganged up on Israel in its first day, and attacked it. Israel then beat the shit out of them and got all the lands in stage 3 pic, this land is considered the Israel's legal land.
yeah right
Nothing in the Arab's history show they wanted peace all along.
Uh, yeah. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/middle_east/article5162537.ece
Nothing in the Arab's history show they wanted peace all along.
I don't see how you can say that considering the Arabic people A, aren't unified, B, keep getting displaced by Israel. Half of the Palestinians are registered refugees. How many more times are you gonna move people till they've had enough? You're just victimizing yourself now.
On a visit to the Middle East last July, the president-elect said privately it would be “crazy” for Israel to refuse a deal that could “give them peace with the Muslim world”, according to a senior Obama adviser.
And they did.
I mean, do you truly believe these people just wanna fight and keep fighting Israel? That doesn't make any sense.
I mean, do you truly believe these people just wanna fight and keep fighting Israel? That doesn't make any sense.
yeah, they do, actually
yeah, they do, actually
Well they're gonna lose and die then.
And they did.
Source? If you're talking about recent events, such as demolishing illegal homes, that hardly constitutes as "moving them all until they've had enough".
Yeah! thisisspain! Here we go again! Like the last time aye?

Op is israeli. Never though we would have a Israeli facepuncher eh? [editline]09:51AM[/editline]
I'm talking about the fact that half of Palestinians are refugees.
. It's the war of Israeli independence, where 5 Arabic countries ganged up on Israel in its first day, and attacked it. Israel then beat the shit out of them and got all the lands in stage 3 pic, this land is considered the Israel's legal land.
They attacked Israel on the same principle that Israel was created, religion. Expel religion or weaken it's grasp on the Middle Eastern region and you will have your peace. If Israel want's to be a democracy they need to forget extreme Zionism, the days of manifest destiny are over don't make the same mistake the US did.
It happened in the PAST stop livin' in the PAST man
I'm arguing about the past because others argue about the past.
I'm talking about the fact that half of Palestinians are refugees.
Most of them fled of their own will, under motivation from the Arab countries who attacked Israel. ("Hey, come to our lands for a few days so you won't be at risk, when we'll kick these damn Jews out you can come back to your lands safe and sound").
Op is israeli.
