Just thought you guys should know. Could be a discussion of pollution/light pollution, and the fact that there are no skies but just an apocalyptic-esque orange haze with snow everywhere. Also, we're due to get something like 36 inches of snow and we had 10 inches a few hours ago. Wish New York got that much snow. :frown:
That's trippy man.
Sydney was like this a few months ago because of a dust storm: http://www.news.com.au/national/orange-haze-blankets-sydney-as-city-nsw-shrouded-by-dust/story-e6frfkvr-1225778410956
It's been like this in Vermont for me, it's pretty :3
Looks like the light from the city reflecting off of the cloud. Street lamps, houses etc.. But I am just guessing. I remember reading that clouds are very reflective or something like that.
Dam I see the same thing here over Pittsburgh. I wish we'd get 36inches!
Wish New York got that much snow. :frown:
I wish Florida got ANY snow. :frown:
I wish it snowed on the West Coast more often :frown:
So? Orange skies look awesome. Mostly likely something to do with where you are, or it could be an orange moon, with the light reflecting off the snow particles/clouds in the sky.
Nothing cool like that ever happens in Chicago. :(
I love light pollution in winter, even when it's not snowing if their is snow on the ground the sky is a pretty orange... but your picture is pretty extreme. Wish I was on the east coast now.
Wow, that light pollution is horrible. How many stars do you get to see on a regular night?

This thread is about the magical sky, now. [editline]hey[/editline]
Wow, that light pollution is horrible. How many stars do you get to see on a regular night? Hah, here it's just lightly raining.
Something like this happened here 6 months ago, but the sky was more red than orange and there wasn't any fog.
Thats awesome.
I wish it snowed in Aus, apart from the mountains and way down south. Stop whining about snow, I've seen it once and it was only a few centimetres deep
I got this in British Colombia, but since there's no snow and very little clouds it's a pretty dark orange.
I wish it snowed in Aus, apart from the mountains and way down south. Stop whining about snow, I've seen it once and it was only a few centimetres deep
I'm not whining; I fucking love snow.
I would take some pics but I don't have a camera that takes good night shots.
There's an oblivion gate nearby.
Sydney had a dust storm a few months ago which turned the place orange/red. Go outside and see if dust has settled on the ground or anything, but don't breathe deeply otherwise it'd damage your lungs a bit.
Thats pretty amazing. Over in Northwest Washington, we've only had an inch of snow all year, except at mount-baker, where there is a shitton.
I'm guessing the sky is that color due to smog. The pollution doesn't rise into that atmosphere during very cold temperatures, which can sometimes lead to a coloration.
Looks like the light from the city reflecting off of the cloud. Street lamps, houses etc.. But I am just guessing. I remember reading that clouds are very reflective or something like that.
It's sort of this. The lights from everything will bounce off the snow and then reflect off the sky, making it look orange.

It's likely smog or some sort of air pollution.
I'm like a trip on the bay bridge or so away from Baltimore, so if it's smog I hope it doesn't start drifting downwind. Right now we're being assfucked with snow so I can't even see out my damn window.

Yeah, it's not smog. Or maybe it is, I don't know. All I know is that every other night in Baltimore is a weird orange or yellow, but tonight is really something. It's literally flooding my walls with orange light. [editline]argh[/editline] aaand holy fuck there was just lightning and thunder
