So, as the title implies, I'm learning slide guitar, and I want some tips from anyone else who plays it.
I've already made a few mistakes,
like buying light gauge strings when I bought the slide, which apparently isn't what I should've done.
If you have tips for me or any links to videos or tutorials, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Just wondering, what kinda music you planning on playing with the slide? I'm not a guitar player myself, but if I ever learned to play the guitar I'd love to learn slide!
From my minimal experience with slide guitar, it is different, you have to just barely push on the strings with the slide. When you think you're good with it try learning the solo to Just Got Paid by ZZ Top.
Mute the strings behind the slide (toward the nut) with your index or middle finger. Cleans up a lot of the noise.

Blues and bluegrass.

Wow, I just tried that and it cleans it up a lot. Thanks.
Well, after my first day of slide I have to say,
It's such a comfortable playing style and it has the soul I was looking for in my playing.
I think I'm going to enjoy the rest of my summer on the porch with my guitar in hand. :banjo:
^ Needs more blood hound...
You know a big mistake I've done once with the slide, I accidentally put it on my middle finger and it got stuck and then my finger started to go all pale, I had to pour kitchen oil on my finger to take it off.
I'm laughing at this mistake.
