Don't know if this has been posted yet.
Very long story short:
-Some of you may know, Portugal is in deep economic crisis, and the IMF is getting ready with the bailout money.
But in the recent elections in Finland, a right wing party was elected wich is against the bailout, and most of the population agree with this. So right now, Finland has the power to stop the bailout from Portugal, and leave our country to the "wolves".
This video was made by portuguese people as a message to the "true finns".

I dont know much about the reaction to this video in Finland. Hope to hear something in the news soon.
I saw this in the news.
I'm all for Portugal, but it's pretty damn stupid. Give me your money because my great great great great great great grandfather was fucking awesome.

True that.
But the fault of our economic strugle is all on the hands of our governament. Corruption is basicly part of the institution, elections are useless for some years now, and theres no way to get rid of the corruption without help from other contries and reboot the system.
As a example of the corruption:
Heard about it in the news a wile ago.
"60 million euros missing from the governament financial reports"
And nothing else was commented on the subject ever since
Where the money go? why is it gone? Is anyone looking into it?
No idea...
I feel proud for being Portuguese and living in Australia after watching that.
I regularly contact with portuguese gents and know portuguese myself and I have to say, Futre's advertisments mocking Socrates are fucking hilarious.

An engineer's diploma for every citizen! :v:
Well i think that they kinda deserve support, after all they colonized my country and abolished slavery here so... yeah.
BTW!
The portuguese Ronaldo its better than ours? Maybe because Ronaldo is already rettired and is a lot older than Cristiano Ronaldo. I would love to ear him say that in Ronaldo early years...
And Salted Cod is horrible.
Shut up Portugal

I don't care about the Ronaldo thing. But Salted Cod is awesome!
Talk about Dickwaving
It's an informative video, except the japanese word "arigato" isn't portugese.
This was interesting video before there was: "Our Ronaldo is better than the brazilian Ronaldo"
Thats where it got ruined for me. Fuck christina ronaldo the diver!
The japanese word "arigato" isn't portugese.
it's origin is from "obrigado".
Portugese people also seem to like bragging about their achievements
People of Finland voted for "True Finns" by their own will. If we don't want to throw money at other countries that is our choice. I can hardly imagine whole support to Portugal would be cut off completely just because 1 country refuses to pay.
it's origin is from "obrigado".
The phrase"arigatō gozaimasu" was used by the Japanese before they had contact with Portugal.

How do Portuguese people call garbage collectors?
Ingeniero do carro da merda

Finland has the power to Vito anyone giving Portugal money.
How do Portuguese people call garbage collectors?

I have never heard of that expression. And Inginiero doesn't even exist in Portuguese, I assume you mean engenheiro.
And I never heard a portuguese dude refer to a garbage man as a shit-truck engineer.
It's kind of a dilemma. Like... Portugal needs the money, but why should Finland give it to them? Finland might need it later. All these EU countries going broke is just stupid. The whole EU will sooner or later go broke. I'm so glad Norway is not in EU. Our monies would be spent helping the other fuckwads not going broke. So then we'd go broke.

Any country in the EU could not get to where they are economicaly, without the help from every outher EU countries. That is what the EU is mostly about.
But the Euro is what came in, and fucked things up before this big crisis. Now everyone wants to jump out of the sinking ship, forgeting that help they recieved from every outher country.
I agree with what you say to a certain point.
But theres a hint of hypocrisy between countries with all this situation.
The ending was zing worthy.
Your message has came through.
The finnish public opinion on the said video:

However feeling responsibility to give atleast somekind of aid, you'll shortly recieve 19902 boxes of sardines, 956 boxes of onions, 157 boxes of fish, 27 boxes of pineapple, hot water bottles, sweaters and* skis. Which is exactly what we got from you in the year 1940, AFTER the war ended. -but lets get serious about this.
I mean the ending of the video kind of sounds like they've done somekind of meaningful act of saint when actually any help coming from that direction wasn't even sent by the government but the citizens, Now I've never been good at economics but somehow i feel that 199902 boxes of sardines aren't worth billions of euros. Not even when the time goes by. It wasn't even enough to feed the men on the field for a day. I say this not to be an asshole nor unthankful and saying "thanks for nothing" but to simply make you understand how unrealistic it is to use this as a valid reason for something that endangers so much and is worth many many times more than the help we recieved.
I should probably also remind you of the fact that you got the biggest gold reserves in the world, For the sake of cotras i'm going to give you numbers: Portugal: 383 tons, Finland: 49 tons. And for fucksake this gold isn't even under control of the EU. It's under control of the portugal government.
You could say, that there's something fishy about this.
By being corrupted fucks you're slowly crumbling EU and trashing everyones economy and most importantly fucking up the years of work which was put into making this system, You should only ask help when the situation IS out of hand not when your life quality is lowered a bit because not every citizen can have steaks for at a 5-star Restaurant errydey.
If all the money we have we would spend on bailing out retards, Then we would have no economic growth, You could think that the money never leaves the bank. But in reality we're all still doing trades with countries that are not part of EU, Thus if there's no growth we will lose money! And this is happening in LARGE SCALE. And you can't get around this because free trade needs to exist for quality and competeting reasons. We'll be soon in same situation as the soviet union back in the days. Finland has a first hand experience dealing with the loans and never getting the money back because the loan owner ceases to exist. And yes i am talking about the soviet union. I quote the following for the sake of realism
Russia is not a country where one can just roll in with tanks to obtain its belongings value in oil. We are not in position to do that.
The amount of unpaid debt we're talking about is so big that it would have been a reason to do so if it wasn't for our position and for the existing political situation at that time. Discussion of recieving Karelia back as payment has been suggested over the years. But it is a dodgy problem as the owner of the loan has ceased to exist. (and overall armed conflights are expensive.)
I mean let's be honest about this. No one's going to pay back the loans, It takes tens of years to even ressurrect an economy to what it once was, not to even talk about making the amount of money which the country is in debt. A single country's economy cannot grow fast enough to pay off any of the debts of this scale in a reasonable time. If EU ceases to exist, NONE of that money is coming back. Not from greece, Not from ireland. Now, We wish we could help, But just constantly throwing money at fucking everyone will fuck things up. Finland is already having trouble with its own economy but we work hard to fix it by cutting spending and increasing exports expecially outside the EU. Constantly abusing the bailouts aren't going to help. this has to end at somepoint.
Now i'm going to be partially realist and kind of ignore the problems with this theory, Because it's the only one which gives somekind of reasonable exchange for these bailouts.
You sell us something, And we give you money. This way the trade still exists even though the scale of the trade is large. When we got something, We can use it to make some of the money back at somepoint or use it as we wish to benefit us. This was last suggested when greece's economic problems got uncovered and the actual trade was about some of the islands / land. However EU being protective this didn't happen, However you should atleast sell your gold for fucksake, That's the least we can ask.
I apologize for showing or otherwise revealing the political wounds or making them bleed again, But this is why we are careful when it comes to money. We don't want to unbalance our own economy to the point of no return for the sake of greedyness.
You might blame True Finns for lots of things, Such as racism and over patriotism. I am not one of their supporters because i find their opinions and solutions to political problems too sharp. but i do not approve this bailout, It's plan stupid. And most of the finn's don't approve it either for the same reason. A small country with scandinavic social democratic system cannot unbalance its economy too much in ways which lead to the point where it cannot be revive itself, If for not any other reason then just for the sake of the citizens.
See what you can do on your own and show us the results, If you find yourself freefalling the EU will catch you.

Dude, it smells like a dirty vagina.
If they feel so high and mighty, then why do they ask alot of help from Finland?
I so hope the aid request they sent to Finland gets declined...
I'm a Finn. That video reinforced my stance against this package.
Assassins creed picture at 2:20?
But yeah this doesn't really change anything.
Look at us!
WE HAVE DONE THINGS!
PAY US.
No.

Mourinho is the most famous
Who is he?
It ashames me that this video was signed by a Municipal Chamber that is quite close to mine. It's not serious, don't take it seriously.
They made a couple slipups. Things they think are good but are actually bad(aside from the jokes).
Anyhow, the Fins should be ashamed. They are part of the EU. They joined so that they could benefit. Now another country needs their help and they back out. What is this shit. Leave the EU then.
For the people from the US: This would be like not supporting a state when it's doing bad.
