So You Want to Build a Tactical Shotgun
-A guide by Ender007

Everyone has been asking me how the hell did I build this shotgun and that it looks so damn cool. So here's my guide on how to build one of these yourself.
Step 1: Buy a Tri-Shot Shotgun
Of course you're going to need a shotgun for this project. In my case I'm using the Double Eagle M3 with the M4 retractable stock. This mod will work on all the versions of the M3, including the long barreled version. These shotgun can be found at stores such as Airsoft GI and Evike for around $50.
-Note: The heat shield is not compatible with the Double Eagle M1014 (or M4) shotgun, due to the pump sitting closer to the barrel, not allowing the heat shield to clamp on. The inside top edge of the pump must be dremel/filed down for the heat shield to work with it.
Step 2: Order Shotgun Accesories
There's a couple of items you will need to buy to pull of this look.
$30 Shotgun Heat Shield ( http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/SHT007-1.html )
$25 Tri Rail Mount ( http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/SCP837-1.html )
$15 (each) Shotgun Cards ( http://www.skdtac.com/Esstac_Shotgun_Card_p/ess.106.htm )
$10-15 Single Rail for Sight ( http://www.airsoftpost.com/index.php?cPath=25_106_289 )
$3 set of Industrial Velcro (Found at Home Depot, Lowes, etc)
The shotgun heat shield also comes in a silver color. There is also a variety of other rail mounts you may purchase.
Step 3: Attach the Rail Mount
This part is pretty self explanatory. Slide the rail onto the shell tube, then insert and tighten the 2 included screws.

Step 4: Attach the Heat Shield
First screw in the plastic sights included with the heat shield.
The results of the heat shield installation will vary by brand and build of the shotgun you're using. For the M3 models, the sights built into the barrel interfere with the heat shield from being installed flush with the barrel. I simply angled the front of the heat shield down first, then pushed down the middle where the sheet metal clamps that attach to the barrel are. The heat shield instruction manual says to widen these tabs, then slide the whole heat shield down the barrel, but with the sights in the way this can't be done.

Push it down onto the barrel. Note this will scratch the barrel.

Installation complete. If it's loose or wobbles, remove the heat shield, squeeze those tabs together a little then reinstall it. Since the heat shield is sitting on top of the iron sights you can't tighten the front end with the screws provided. The holes aren't sitting low enough for you to thread the screws under the barrel.

Step 5: Super Glue the Rail
This is where you need to be careful, or else your optics will not be centered with the barrel of your gun. For this step I used Gorilla Super Glue. Be careful with this stuff, it drys fast, VERY FAST. Put the super glue on the top of the receiver of the shotgun, in particular the 2 highest edges of that top flat cut. To ensure the rail is centered, push it up against the rear sight of the heat shield. Do this quickly, as it will become insanely hard to move the rail after 5 seconds of contact with the glue. As you can tell I screwed up with mine, got super glue on my hand and all over the rail.

Step 6: Add Velcro for Shotgun Cards
Pretty simple. Slap a rectangle of the velcro loop material onto the side of the shotgun. Smooth it out and let it sit for at least 10 minutes before you start playing with it.

Slap a shotgun card onto the velcro.

Ready to go

The Result
Now you have a tactical shotgun that you can add all your lights, laser and scopes onto. For lights and lasers I recommend using a pressure pad and using industrial velcro to attach it to the pump. Mine currently is using electrical tape, but it won't hold forever.
Hope you've found this guide useful.

Didn't notice at first.
Ender.
Have my children.
Where's the cigarette lighter?
Where's the cigarette lighter?
Let me just add that 1 megawatt laser to the rail, that should do the trick.
Where's the tacticool undermounted shotgun for your shotgun?
What rail did you buy specifically or did you have one laying around?
I wish they had shotgun cards in black. Tempted to do this but I still have an expensive flak jacket to buy.
I like the heatshield, but the stock and rails ruin it for me.
Either way, it's neat.
Next on Ender's list. Growing a tactical mustache.

No... grow a Chris Costa beard
Needs a cup holder.
How can you quench thirst if you are holding a shotgun without a cup holder?
See, most people would see super gluing as a bad thing, but if you do it properly, it turns into something awesome...
Araldite ftw

I actually bought a 12" section of rail for the bottom of a M16 handguard. I cut it down to size at work and milled the bottom flat since it was at an angle, then grinded down the corners.
G36 side rail should be good I think. Flat and small.

Chris Costa's beard is made of kevlar. Bullets get tangled in the mess of hair and just get stuck in there.
holy fuck i have to do this with my 1014
I WOULD do this with my Mossberg 500, but it snapped in half when it fell over...
Twas a sad day indeed... :smith:
Holy shit, that's a pretty nice looking shotgun. I MUST DO THIS!
Aww fuck it's just airsoft. What god damn let down.

You say the heat shield sits ontop of the iron sights so you can't tighten it down all the way. Couldn't you just file down the front sights and do that? They're soft enough to do in like five minutes. Not to mention the heat shield has iron sights built on as it is.

Way to come in here just to flame us.

I could say real guns are dumb because you just go to a range and shoot at static targets but I don't.

Rated dumb for illiteracy.
What kind of person get lets down for an airsoft gun in an AIRSOFT FORUM!?
BANNED USER you need a avatar of a good looking girl.

Did I do it right?

Yes, you could do that. You could probably just pull them right off with some pliers, I think they're just glued on.
Thought I should bring some content in here, here's what I did with my trishot after seeing this guide:

The rail was a spare extended G36 rail that I never ended up using, so I Gorrila Glued it to the top. I don't have the tri-rail at the moment I'm mounting my light to the top. Maybe I'll pick up a cheap dot sight for quick target acquisition in darker areas. With the rail and light in the way right now, sights are completely unusable. But hey, it's a shotgun. :v: Not sure if I want to get a heatshield just yet. As you can tell that shell holder isn't the same as Ender's but it does the job well. Originally it was MOLLE mountable but I place velcro on the back of it. I've used this gun in a zombie night game and it was REALLY effective. I put the shell holder on yesterday so it hasn't been used in combat yet. But I'm sure it's gonna give zombies/CQB players a run for their money. Thank you VERY much for making this guide, Ender. I plan on getting the tri-rail next.
Just a side note, your shells are in the saddle the wrong way :v: The bottom of the shell goes at the bottom of the saddle
its my gun i do what i want!!!!!!!
Later today I'll try firing and reloading with it and see which way works better. You're probably right though.
I was always taught to have the shell facing down in a card, so I don't think it's really a rule one way or the other, just personal preferences.
