Prior to airing the abbreviated interview, KCRG-TV’s anchors explained that the station’s interview with Blum had been in the works for weeks and that the children surrounding the congressman during the interview were there at his request.
On a follow up question, Blum again insisted that “I don’t represent all Iowans. I represent the first district of Iowa. That would be like saying ‘shouldn’t I be able to, even though I live in Dubuque, go vote in Iowa City during the election because I’d like to vote in that district instead?’”
Scheinblum replied by asking Blum if he would still be willing to accept a donation from a Republican in Iowa City, a question that prompted the congressman to scoff and announce “I’m done” as he stood up to remove his microphone. “This is ridiculous. He’s going to sit here and just badger me,” Blum said, seemingly gesturing to a staff member of his off camera.
The children Blum had insisted on using as a backdrop for the interview filed out with him as he left. The entire interview lasted just longer than two minutes.

Pretty sure Blum posts on facepunch since I've seen this strategy employed before.
What a pity the mean reporter asked sensitive questions that must obviously have a grain of truth to them, considering his reaction and how long this interview lasted :vs:
Sounds like he may have been in an irritable mood prior to the interview.

Why, Blum is your all American, God-fearing, moral Republican. What better way to display your righteousness than with a harem of children at your heels?

he's worse. Dudes a tea party member as well and one of the earliest to endorse trump.
had a friend who interned at his office for a while. Evidently Rod Blum sees Iowan's as small minded people and will vote for anything that dismantles Obama's policies

In fairness there are a LOT of small minded people here in Iowa, They keep voting in Fucks like Rod Blum and Chuck Grassley because "LIBCUCKS ARE GONNA TAKE MUH FARMING SUBSIDIES", or if you're my neighbor, "DEMOCRATS ARE GONNA TAKE MY SOCIAL SECURITY".
Shit fucking disgusts me how ignorant you can be.

yep. this state fucking sucks I'm so glad I'm moving out of it at the end of the month.
I'll preemptively ask this before anyone uses it as a defense: has any Democrat representative ever walked out of an interview? Because if not, this only shows the two parties aren't equal evils as people would like to believe.

Far as I remember, and far as I could see after looking things up, I don't think any Dem representative walked out of interviews or meetings, except in a protest, at least recently.
The conversation between Blum and reporter Josh Scheinblum appeared somewhat tense from the moment it began as the legislator defended his decision to check the IDs of those attending his scheduled town hall meeting and allow in only people from his district. “We don’t need people from Chicago there or Des Moines there or Minneapolis there. I don’t represent them. They should go talk to their representatives at their town hall meetings.”
"Why are you checking IDs at your Town Halls?"
"We don't want to let non-constituents in, that's not who I'm representing."
"So would you take donations from a non-constituent Republican?"

Isn't this the kind of shit Republicans said Hillary was going to be full of?
The last time I saw someone storm out of an interview like this, it was a Scientologist who was asked about Xenu (something Scientologists won't admit the existence of in public).
[congressmen Blum takes his minorities and leaves] might be my favorite caption I've ever read
This wouldn't be nearly as funny without the kids piling up and leaving with him.

He likes being with like-minded people :v:
