The company will reportedly hold an event to give the press a "behind-the-scenes look at Google Maps and share our vision" on June 6th. According to the invitation, Google will demo new features that "will get people where they want to go -- both physically and virtually." That shindig will go down just five days before Apple's WWDC, where Cupertino will likely announce its own Google Maps replacement.
Curious as to what they're going to do, I thought Gmaps was pretty perfect already.
'The next dimension of Google Maps' Apple's maps are rumoured to be 3D I hope it's 3D. But 'get people where they want to go -- both physically and virtually' it's pretty much anyone's guess wtf they are talking about with that, could be very interesting
"will get people where they want to go -- both physically and virtually."
This reminds me of the Google glasses for some reason. Curious though...
They're going to add multiplayer dog fighting in the flight simulator! Then it'd be perfect.

Hmm, perhaps an "Internet Map" of sorts? [editline]1st June 2012[/editline] I don't work for Google, I don't know what the hell they mean.
I doubt Apple can compete with Google, but i guess we'll find out soon enough. They are pushing technology so that's good.
Google Indoorview.
Google Indoorview.
Already a thing, but as usual Google don't fucking roll it out everywhere.
What I never got is how Apple is so good at making shit quick. Like, someone else (usually Google) will have their own version of something for the longest time, and then out of no where Apple pops up with a more polished/finished/functional version. Just, out of fuckin no where. What I'm worried about is that whatever Google's doing, Apple will do it more effectively. I don't want them to, but it seems like what they usually do. Don't worry though, I <3 Google.
I doubt Apple can compete with Google, but i guess we'll find out soon enough. Apple will file an antitrust lawsuit and become the biggest hypocrites in the universe. Calling it!
What's next, iTube with inbuilt hipster filters?
Watch apple go all, "we invented maps" and file a patent on all maps.
Watch apple go all, "we invented maps" and file a patent on all maps.
They'll go back in time and sue cavemen.
Watch apple go all, "we invented maps" and file a patent on all maps.
I have no doubt that even as we type, Apple lawyers are drawing up patents to cover whatever Google and any competitors may be rolling out.
How about they update their fucking images? I am sick of seeing an image from 2006 for my city. Its so outdated that most of the streets dont even exist.
Real-time nude beach overview?
Probably something to do with 3D.
I'd have to say 3d, too, that's the only thing they haven't done yet. And they could get you there virtually (in 3d) and physically (in real life)
This just in, apple patents maps.
Google cars.
Probably my biggest dislike of iOS personally is that the Maps application is lacking, it can't replace a GPS device like the Google Navigation on Android can. Hoping iOS 6 fixes that.
I hope they'll make more use of geolocalization, there's a whole well of features untapped in there
Couldn't care less, it'll no doubt have sub-par coverage of everywhere outside the US in any case. Quite frankly i'm surprised Google maps and streetview has as good coverage of my area as it does.

Google Streetview is in a lot of other nations other than the US. It's quite impressive how expansive the coverage is.
It has a degree of inaccuracy, but what, with today's tech we still can't exactly pin point that one hidden cafe
Which is how it should stay, that's my favorite cafe. Soon as they map it, shit'll be all full of hipsters it won't be funny.
