Police and jail records show Smith, left, was arrested in Hollywood around 1:15 a.m. on Friday. He was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery and released hours later on $20,000 bail. Smith denied any wrongdoing in a written statement published on the Trailer Park Boys' official website. According to Georgia Ling, the victim in the case, “Mike and I did indeed have a heavy argument but it saddens me the way things are being reported and the way it was handled by the police. At no point did I feel I was in danger, otherwise I would've called the police myself, which I did not. The police were called by others not present in the room who mistakenly perceived the argument to be something other than what it was. When the officers arrived I tried to assure them there was no real issue, but they proceeded to arrest Mike."

Meanwhile, his co-star Lucy Decoutere tweeted Saturday that she was leaving the show. When a commenter asked whether her departure was related to the charges against Smith, she confirmed it was
Statement from the official TPB website:
TORONTO, April 2, 2016 - Regarding Mike Smith's involvement in an incident that occurred early Friday, April 1st in Hollywood, following are statements issued by the participants: Georgia Ling, described as the victim in this incident, stated: “Mike and I did indeed have a heavy argument but it saddens me the way things are being reported and the way it was handled by the police. At no point did I feel I was in danger, otherwise I would've called the police myself, which I did not. The police were called by others not present in the room who mistakenly perceived the argument to be something other than what it was. When the officers arrived I tried to assure them there was no real issue, but they proceeded to arrest Mike". Mike Smith commented: "Georgia is a friend of mine and we had a loud and heated dispute. That is all. At no time did I assault her. I am not guilty of the misdemeanour charged against me."
The other members of the Trailer Park Boys and all staff stand behind Mike and look forward to the matter being resolved favourably.

Well according to this article, Lucy told them she wasn't returning for Season 11 a few weeks ago before all this even happened. Wouldn't there have been physical evidence of an assault? The police seemed very confident in it.
She quit the show because her co-star was charged with assault, but then didn't even wait to see if he was found not guilty?
noooooo bubs
Wouldn't there have been physical evidence of an assault? The police seemed very confident in it.
I believe Assault is the threat of violence and Battery is the actual violence.
this show has gone on for five seasons too long
...did Georgia not testify against the charge in court? This should have been thrown out since both of them are saying it was just an argument.
She quit the show because her co-star was charged with assault, but then didn't even wait to see if he was found not guilty?
Meh, Lucy's character was always useless and boring anyways.
this show has gone on for five seasons too long
the latest ones arent that bad
She quit the show because her co-star was charged with assault, but then didn't even wait to see if he was found not guilty?
yeah it seems kinda like a quick and stupid call to make before all the facts come out, but hey people make passionate decisions in moments like these. shame though, trailer park boys is one of my favorite shows.
the latest ones arent that bad
Agreed, I've really enjoyed them, Season 10 especially. That's pretty dramatic of Lucy, since they've both come out and said it was all blown out of proportion. Hopefully this doesn't have any more fallout since they're supposed to start filming Season 11 next month.
If the "victim" has said she wasn't in any danger of any kind and there were other people there, what weight does this hold? Shitty of Lucy to just up and quit without getting to hear everything.
Well according to this article, Lucy told them she wasn't returning for Season 11 a few weeks ago before all this even happened. Getting the idea she did those tweets just to salt the wound.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/lucy-decoutere-trailer-park-boys-resigns-1.3518206
this combined with the victim saying nothing happened makes this whole situation seem very strange
this show has gone on for five seasons too long
S10 isn't that bad though.
I don't know about California, but in South Carolina it's a standing provision for a lot of counties and cities to simply arrest and charge the male figure with assault in any dispatch response to a domestic disturbance. The laws were written with the intent of protecting women, typically ones who for many reasons would be afraid to step forward and accuse the man. However, it also means that, like here, many men end up with completely wrongful records of domestic abuse. Even when the woman has been physically violent, or completely denies any form of assault, battery or wrongful action (IE. mere yelling fights.) It also leads to chronic under reporting of actual domestic violence, because even though there is a fight, and someone neutral should break it up, nobody wants anybody arrested.
Sensationalist title as fuck. She was already leaving and it's been proven that Mike and that girl just had a loud disagreement.
Lucy is a boring character anyways
honestly yeah she really is, but only because i feel like her character is supposed be a burnout trailer trash baby machine. she's like an atmospheric character, not really important to the overall story, but adds to the show's environment.
She claimed to be sexually assaulted by some guy called Jian Ghomeshi along with two other victims but it was a verdict of not guilty due to lack of evidence or something. http://www.chatelaine.com/news/ghomeshi-verdict/ (First article I could find, don't know the source) That's probably why she was so quick to quit, she has very strong opinions about it.
Hold on. So she leaves the show because she found out Smith was abusive despite the fact that Georgia confirmed no domestic violence ever took place. And she also confirmed that she didn't call the cops but other passerbyers did because they perceived their heated argument incorrectly. And Lucy just completely disregards that? What a dumbfuck.

Too much liquor & whores
Still can't believe it's 2016 and people don't realise TPB is a documebtary
The fact she used this reason to quit without even finding out if he was guilty is pretty damn low. Considering everything points to nothing more than an argument that was really loud and he didn't do anything.
S10 isn't that bad though.
8 and 9 were hot garbage imo. they actually raised my opinion of 7. ive gotten about halfway into 10 and it just doesnt have me going like the earlier 1-5 seasons
The newest wasn't funny but I enjoyed watching it because I like seeing these characters

Lucy announced she was leaving the show weeks ago. I don't know why she decided to double-back and use this as an excuse to leave, but good riddance. She's the worst character, second only to Barb. Frig off.
