Most places like these devenomize the cobras, so he likely wasn't frightened by them but would still rather not get bit, since that would still hurt.

And even then the snake wouldn't immediately sink their fangs into you, but give several warnings as it doesn't really wish to waste venom on something that is way bigger than itself.
