Hello Drugpunch. I am a tobacco user and I finally have the will to quit.
I want to go all the way with this as in not even having tobacco every now and then or when I'm drunk. I'm sick of tobacco, but we who have tried and failed to quit in the past know how hard it is on the body and mind.
Basically I need some advice. What can I do to get this out of my system quicker and make the withdrawal symptoms as light as possible. As in not being too irritated and what not.
Keep yourself busy, when I quit every time I used to be sat around not doing much I thought about it and would want one, so I would get up and do something, exercise is usually a good one.
yeah, physical exercise is good advice, you can also minimize your use and not cold turkey it (aka start smoking less and less). then when use is smaller, you can cold turkey more easily.

That's the original plan, as in I think I'm finally ready to cold turkey.
Me and my girlfriend are quitting too, but as weird as it might seem, we just don't smoke unless we really have to, and we're cutting down bigtime. Shit is just weird.
The stuff is nasty man. I used mainly mouth tobacco, which in Iceland is not scented or flavoured, so you get this really dank smell of shit or something like that from the tobacco.
It fucks up your nasal glands too. It's horrible.
I replaced it with weed, and didn't drink much after. But then again I smoke sociably still. Don't bother with icotine patches or any gm shit
Smoke weed erryday.
Once you get over the three day hump it's easy going, oddly enough I don't get withdrawal symptomns...
Back a looong while ago when I was underage I couldn't get any fags for about a month and didn't get any pangs at all and I'd been smoking 10 a day for at least 6 months...
I'd love to give up, unfortunately I don't WANT to give up and I firmly believe if you don't want to you won't, regardless of if you feel you have to or not.
I smoke as more of a habit than an addiction I think, when I'm stressed my immediate reaction is to have a cup of tea and a fag... or just the latter if no tea is available... I enjoy the ritual of rolling up a ciggy and the act of smoking and it's become way too much of a habit for me to just kick.
For want of a better way of a less faggy way of putting it I get very zen about rolling, if I'm over-pressured or stressed in a situation.. I'll stop sit down and concentrate on making a fag, it centres me immediately having something to refocus on to gather yourself and then enjoy smoking.
They say replace a habit with a habit but if I gave up smoking I'd just become a chronic masterbater.
Chew sunflower seeds
And when you feel like you really want to smoke a cigarette, do 3 so deep breaths that your lungs hurt and the urge to smoke will simply go away.
(I keep repeating this message for all tobacco smokers hoping to quit)
I don't HOPE to quit. I AM gonna quit.
I hear drinking lots of water is very good for this.
Go clubbing with me, smoke anyway, repeat next day
I just stopped smoking weed yesterday (i mix it with tobacco and i don't smoke cigarettes), only for a little while to let my tolerance go down and all you need to do is keep yourself occupied for the first few days than its smooth sailing.
I usually go cold turkey every 2 or 3 months for a week or two because i don't really fiend for it even though i smoke way too much hydroponic.
My best advice is to distract yourself every time you even think about smoking, and play fast paced video games, they seem to keep my mind occupied.
school is offering free nicotine patches if you help them with some kind of investigation about cig smokers in holland.. anyone have experience with them? id like to give it a try and keep my lungs filled with air and weed smoke only :P
I haven't had a cigarette in 2 weeks, and the last one I had I could barely smoke it.
Going well so far.
It makes me want to invent a new methods of quiting tobacco. A common routine is buying cigs that taste foul and the idea there is that you won't want to smoke them because it sucks. If you smoke something you enjoy, you aren't going to quit. Well, expanding upon this, I think a better tactic would be to lace just one of the cigs in a pack with PCP and have someone mix them up so you aren't aware of which one is laced. The idea is that you'll be scared to smoke from the pack because there is a small chance you'll get a freaking weird trip. Now if that doesn't work, lace more of the cigs in the pack, upping your chance of smoking the laced one. Although you may still may smoke a bit, you'll find yourself not wanting to smoke in public or around people just in case you got smoked laced one. If that fails, lace all but one with PCP. You'll really be taking your chances there. A bad side effect from this method is that you could appear to be a douche if someone asks you for a smoke and you decline giving them one. If lacing all but one doesn't work, lace them all with PCP. If you still smoke them, then hopefully you have some crazy trip in which it is revealed to you that you shouldn't be smoking cigs laced with PCP, or even better, a crazy trip that reveals that you shouldn't be smokings cigs.
I'm thinking about another technique that would anchor smoking tobacco to the image of a naked Rossie O'Donnell. Clearly, the imagine of a naked Rossie O'Donnell would easily overpower the nicotine addiction. Perhaps this could also be used with heroin addicts.
I don't really smoke mate. I use dip tobacco.

I do like your idea though. I may take it into use, but without the PCP I think.
if you start lacing your cigs with pcp and get the one with pcp you might have some ridiculous awesome pcp trip and then get hooked on pcp instead of stogs. not really sure on all the details of pcp but i'd prefer cigs over pcp any day of the week.
the best way i know of to quit smoking is to smoke a whole bunch of weed instead. that's how all my friends that have quit cigs quit them, smoking weed all day instead.

i guess i just think like im high all the time. i'm callin it a good thing.
Go chew on a piece of bubblegum every time you think of smoking a cigarette.
Try Huskey, it sucks ass and you won't want to dip anymore
I've been trying to quit smoking for half a year now, and here I am with another pack of prince longs :C

I have tried worse. It's called the Icelandic shit...
Eww, I want some
Seeing as this seems like the more recent thread I'l chuck it in here but ditto.
I quit smoking about 2 years ago and recently moved for Uni, and well needless to say I've relapsed into old habits without even knowing it. housemate smokes so I though that 1 or 2 on a night out couldn't hurt but now, ahh fuck, It's only been 2 months though so I'm aiming to cease before it gets to the point it was at before because it truely is a money sink and I have every reason in the world not to smoke from friends and family, hell that's why I quit last time
I only buy Remington packs of filtered 'cigars' because they are $1 due to the fact that they escape cigarette tax as being 'cigars'. But they taste like cigarettes tho :3 Smart People don't make me a dull boy.
and I smoked again.

weak willed man
Damn, I smoke a pack a month if even
I just tried to stop but it's so boring smoking. Smoking is more a habit for me than anything else. Trying to fight the urge to pick up a pack :/
