• Debating on Musical structure of Dubstep

I Feel like people who don't attempt to create dubstep don't fully understand how hard it is to make a complex song. That the general population will "enjoy". So Lets talk, Go go go.
Sorry to burst your bubble mate, but there is a Dubstep thread a few threads down. And to contribute, yes it is hard to make music, but Dubstep is marginally easier than other genres to create. Although still difficult if one lacks creative talent.

Scratching a song entirely is, as far as I can tell, not done a whole lot. If something doesn't come out right, most Dubstep is electronic anyways and can therefore be fixed in the way you want easily. Major fuckups can even be fixed in mere hours.
Did you make this beacuse people weren't too fond of that one track you posted?
I think it's because WE didn't like it.
This isn't a debate on musical structure, this is you complaining that we don't appreciate how much work you put into writing dubstep. Man up
Are you that guy from Fuck the Raven? I don't think that was dubstep.
This is like me saying people who don't attempt to play in rock bands don't understand rock music as a whole. Just because someone isn't creating music doesn't mean they cant fully understand what's going on and appreciate the song. At the end of the day, there are going to be some people who like your music, and some that don't. Deal with it.
Most dubstep being made really isn't dub step. It's dance music with wobbles.
Most dubstep being made really isn't dub step. It's dance music with wobbles.
This is exactly why I have no idea what dubstep is.
This is dubstep: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9v-GFK9EykI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsNYcEsGpGo The beats are kinda based on 2step and influenced by reggae dub. Some will tell you this is dubstep: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSeNSzJ2-Jw but really it's electro/house that's been raped by LFO. or brostep Wobble doesn't a dubstep track, make
WUBWUBWUBWUBwubwubWUBWUBWUBwubwubwubwuwbWUBWUBWUWB I am a dubstep genius.
the only true definition of dubstep is a half-time track around the BPM of 140. there is nothing else that defines the genre, as you can have it with or without wobbles that being said, dubstep is not 'marginally easier' than any other type of music to make. if you consider making shit wobbly music in FL easy then yes, but coming close to the production standards of noisia, skrillex, any of the big players then it will take you years to find out how they master and create a track to such a high level.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSeNSzJ2-Jw
I consider myself able to appreciate many forms of music, but what the fuck is this? First two songs are pretty awesome though.
This is dubstep: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9v-GFK9EykI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsNYcEsGpGo The beats are kinda based on 2step and influenced by reggae dub. Heard the Skrillex song so much at school. All theses brostep dubstep fans playing it over and over.
I consider myself able to appreciate many forms of music, but what the fuck is this?
Obnoxious basslines and modulated singing.
Obnoxious basslines and modulated singing.
Wins over the musically inept.
Wins over the musically inept.
Sadly.
Sadly.
Honestly, I have no problem with them liking it, the song appeals even to me. But fuck, it pisses me off when they think they're connoisseur of dubstep because they listen to Skrillex.
Like, the little synth bit was pretty okay but ti sounded like a monster chewing up a bunch of bass amps with a broken Kesha record playing in the background.
I like Skrillex, but IMO it has almost nothing to do with actual dubstep so I'm not really sure why it falls under the banner
This isn't a debate on musical structure, this is you complaining that we don't appreciate how much work you put into writing dubstep. Man up
No... I have said that i suck to people i know, I just try. I am interested on what people think about the musical structure of dubstep. [editline]2nd October 2011[/editline]
Wins over the musically inept.
It is true. When i ask what people listen to and i hear skrillex, the first thing i say is he isnt exclusively dubstep actually he only has a few songs that a true to the "standards" of it. then i say he uses the baselines and modulated singing as an attraction.
I don't think that unless these people are deeply into musical structure they even care what you got to say, because they enjoy it regardless
I don't think that unless these people are deeply into musical structure they even care what you got to say, because they enjoy it regardless
Yea, I kinda wanted to talk about how the intros transfer into the normal beat then to the build up, followed by the drop and so on and so forth but that didn't quite happen:p
