There appears to be an ARG connecting several Steam games together with one symbol originally found in a file called eye.jpg with this image. So far this symbol seems to be accompanied by a puzzle, and in the one case that we have solved a puzzle we got a new image. To make progress in this ARG we're going to a lot of people on the lookout for this symbol as you play various games so we can solve the puzzles surrounding them.
Here is a list of involved games so far and a description of their involvement:
Crypt of the NecroDancer - Around May 29th 2015 a file called eye.jpg was added to Crypt of the NecroDancer directory. Using a hex-editing application another image was found inside of eye.jpg. This image might be to lead us to Mini Metro, or it might be a circular puzzle piece.
The Magic Circle - I'm unsure when this "eye" was added. /u/Tambox discovered a "eye" in The Magic Circle and provided this image and video. No progress has been made past its discovery.
Mini Metro - Around February 13th 2015 a secret map was added, and could be accessed by following these instructions to find and click a "eye". An email sent to the developer confirms that there is a puzzle, a solution, and that it is solvable. The secret map has stations shaped like the "eye", and the puzzle seems to revolve around recreating the "eye"'s shape by drawing lines. You can view progress for this puzzle here and help out!
Hopefully you'll join in and help to solve this together!
EDIT: The /r/GameDetectives Discord is open for discussing this ARG here. They're also creating their own ARGs if you want to help create them or solve them.
I'm going to be angry if this is PART 2 of the Steam Winter ARG.
Is Valve trying to run ARGs into the ground? They just feel like a chore that leads to disappointment now.
Obligatory reminder not to get hyped about anything related to Half-Life.
That path will only lead to disappointment.
Here we go again.

well i mean all of this shit seems to have been added in way before winter
Those are some pretty weird symbols.
Watch as you all get hyped and it's the last one all over again.
maybe valve started this arg at the beginning of last year, nobody caught on, so they did the winter one to try and get people to catch on to this one. would explain the red herring badge then
We don't know yet if this has anything to do with Valve or Steam at all
How long until everyone obsesses over jpeg artifacts?
This has nothing to do with valve, stop before you all piss yourselves in anger/disappointment.
Why are people assuming this is Valve's doing? I don't see anything that indicates that it would be.
I'd go so far as to call the sigil reminiscent of the Combine.

Because Valve hosts the steam servers. These games are on steam's servers. The games have an ARG in it. Therefore Valve is holding the ARG.
This is what we've all been waiting for.
Another ARG badge.

Yes, but these symbols are in the games files, games can only be updated by the maker of the game iirc, therefore the maker of the game pushed the file in an update, not valve.
People other than valve can do args yaknow, its not something that Valve trademarked and copyrighted.
Oh man, not again. If this does turn out to be a Valve ARG, I hope we get something more than a damn badge this time.
It's not gonna lead to anything exciting, calling it now.

this thought popped into my mind too
i'm not going to indulge it though
i can't afford to at this point
Can't wait for that Cinnabar Trout badge
Maybe it unlocks a super special new TF2 hat.
Ooh yeah, time for another badge I won't be getting!
And watch the badge fiasco happen all over again.
You guys are more than welcome to figure it out but don't start shitting yourselves and blaming valve for giving you night terrors when it turns out to not be related to HL3. It's going to be something interesting, but not that, so stop getting your hopes up, you're only going to be hurting yourselves
Valve realized the blow their image took after the botched ARG, and now they're controlling damage by making an ARG that will end up in the announcement of Half-Life 3.

doesn't need to be a valve game to be a part of a valve arg
see: potato fool's day portal 2 arg. similar sort of thing going on here with images hidden in several indie games

Woah, so has this been going on for a while then?
Just a heads up, the original symbol dates back to October 9 2014 (possibly even earlier) from a non-steam game called Kingdom of Loathing

While this may be an ARG, it could possibly also be a tribute from a group of indie devs.
Edit: There's a thread about Crypt of the Necrodancer on Their Forums, one of their editors has also been tweeting to necrodancer's twitter.
