The flashback scene in the movie. 40 years prior to the events of Batman Beyond.
I saw that movie once on tv and that part was fucking disturbing.
This was a fucking amazing movie.. one of my favorite Batman toons.
Holy FUCK I have to watch this now.

I was expecting Batman to flip a shit and say something like "You've done it, I've got no choice. I have to kill you now" with an extremely sinister look on his face or something like that.

As cool as that would be, it doesn't really fit the persona of Batman too much. Probably why they chose using Tim to kill him instead.
It is worth noting, however, how much fiercer Batman gets when he starts to attack the Joker after the slideshow/movie is finished, as he is obviously very angry.
If you're going to get the movie, make sure it's the uncensored version.
Also,
[sp]Harley Quinn survives the fall.[/sp]

Exactly, it would've made it that much better. I mean, Batman really didn't have a choice. Joker clearly doesn't stay locked up for long, and he'd blow Batman's cover wide open. What other choice would he have?

[sp]It says so in the captions...[/sp]
Seen this when it was first released on Dvd its a brilliant way to end the joker imo, also for the spoiler tag people......and the end of the movie if you watch it pay attention to the part where the twins meet they're grandma.

That's more something superman would do
Batman is interesting because he always keeps to his rule.
I would say that Return of the Joker is by far my favorite animated Batman film (Mask of the Phantasm ties, and Mystery of the Batwoman is second). Unfortunately the censors caught how violent Joker's death was, so in the versions shown on TV and I think on DVDs is where Tim Drake electrocutes Joker instead of impaling. Both are pretty damn dark, but crimatey it's Batman. The series always had subtle dark elements and Return of the Joker went as dark as a kid's animated film could.
I used to watch this every time after school, classic :)
Damn I remember Batman Beyond
Shit was dark
Was the death of the Joker explained in any other series of Batman like this in detail anywhere else?
How did that bazooka hold 5+ shots?
I am confused.

Magic
Oh ok that explains a lot.
This reminds me of this time I was on a server in TF2 and this guy kept on playing a soundclip that was like, "ONE DAY BATMANS PARENTS GOT KILLED, BATMAN WAS PISSED OFF AND DECIDED TO FIGHT CRIME, THAT DAY BATMAN BECAME BATMAN."
But I can't find out where that is from.
[editline]06:41PM[/editline]
Can someone help me find it?
goddamn Harley Quinn is such a great sidekick

Censored version.
For some reason that death seems better, it sort of draws back to how he tortured robin.
The electrocution death was meh, I liked the shot in the chest one better.
Yeah likewise

Both endings are fitting but I've grown accustomed to the censored version though.
Just watched it, and... [sp]What a let-down. Some bullshit genetics chip was imposing Joker's personality onto the adult Robin? That's not something Joker would do at all. And what the hell was with that retarded psuedo-futuristic look he had going? There were only two good parts imho, the flashback where Robin kills the actual Joker, and the brief moment at the end with "Nana Harvey".[/sp]
I remember watching that as a kid. I have the DVD still :v:

You don't read the comics.. do you? In fact, that's something the joker would do on a whim if he were teamed up with his old crazy pal Jarvis... Considering how much of an egotistical maniac Joker is he would probably want to live forever some how.

I'm aware he commonly experiments and everyone that's ever seen anything related to the Joker can see how egotistical he is, but [sp]a genetics chip?[/sp]It just seems like an easy fix for a plot hole.
Movie kinda killed Robin for me as well. [sp]He went from a hotshot sidekick to a boring monotone civilian way too quickly.[/sp]

Honestly you're right that it's kinda a plothole, like I said if he had the mad hatter help him (Mr.Chips himself) that plothole would have been resolved. If he had the ability though I'm sure he would.
The robin thing is much less of a plothole. If you were tortured with something like THAT you would want to put that behind you as much as possible. It's pretty much what anyone would do.

Yeah, I wasn't saying the Robin thing was a plothole, just a personal opinion. [sp]The way the movie presented his character was hotshot loudmouth to monotone worker with no real transition in-between.[/sp]
Are you guys sure you have never heard something like that before in a sound clip or something?

He was very much a broken man, he's not "better" just not insane.
