Geographic location of victims isn't important. Its not like the vast majority of people participating in this remembrance were around back then.
Anyone who isn't a complete fool regards the holocaust as something incredibly serious. The difference is that this remembrance was started in a directly affected area, and continues it for the debatable sake of tradition.
I bet that is a major cause for accidents on the freeway - before and after the siren.
