So Goonies, Adventure Time, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Harry Potter, Female Ghost Busters, Sonic, Mission Impossible, A-Team, ET, Teen Titans and possibly Knight Rider? What a list.

Never thought they would bring Gremlins into this.
The trailer looks more like one of a movie than a game.
some of them look so ugly as legos lol
wish it was on pc
This is some of the sets that got leaked fairly recently. Interesting that you can play the entire Ghostbusters new movie when the old one just got a level. Also I guess Sonic's set wasn't shown but word has it he comes with the Mach Tornado and Speed Star (his car in the racing games)

It had to be the reboot Ghostbusters didn't it?
It had to be the reboot Ghostbusters didn't it?
At least the original Ghostbusters got more respectable sets(their Car and their HQ) along with something small for Dimensions game.

I must say I'm really disappointed with the way Lego goes. Almost half of the themes that are currently available in the shop are licensed (not counting in the themes which are partly licensed (like Mercedes models in Technic)). They do a good job recreating everything with their bricks but you pay like 30% more due to licenses (and Lego sets are already fucking expensive). Maybe it's just me, somebody who doesn't like action heroes and monsters and shit. I prefer the creator, technic and city sets to build realistic things. But these days you don't even get what you need in the city theme (because according to Lego a city is made out of 90% vehicles of which 70% are from the police department, the fire department or a construction site). It used to be different. I'm not saying don't have any action sets in your line up but do they really need to cash-in on every license out there instead of having more custom IPs like Chima, Ninjago, Friends, Elves, ...? Also having more pre-designed models they need to accurately recreate also means more colors and brick types, which not only raise the production costs (because they seem to be what you primarily pay for, it can't be the ABS plastic alone that is this expensive) but also are a nightmare for everyone trying to sort their collection or trying to getting the right parts for a model as some bricks were only available in the color you need 10 years ago in two sets. And this Skylanders model is the icing on the cake. It's nice that you get 8 bucks worth of lego bricks in a $30 level pack but I heard those levels are really short and sometimes you need to buy more characters to get past obstacles. I haven't looked too much into it but that's the impression I got. Sorry for my opinion.
what's up with the retarded superman? edit: got it, I've never seen the goonies
In the late 90s, LEGO was nearly bankrupt due its over-production of new molds and colours. However, this was before they introduced any licensed themes at all. In fact, the creation of licensed themes actually drew LEGO out of their economic troubles, despite all the new pieces needed - unlike before, the profit of making them outweighed their cost. Besides, most people ignore the instructions - even for licensed sets - or if they don't, they just get bored of it, take it apart and build something new.
In the late 90s, LEGO was nearly bankrupt due its over-production of new molds and colours.
Never knew that, thank you for the information. I heard similar things but thought it was due to the creative descent they had in the early 2000s by creating larger, useless pieces so that a car is made out of just 12 parts.
