It wasn't that long ago that we reported on Demonoid getting shut down for good. It would seem that while the popular torrent site may be gone it hasn't had that much of an impact when it comes to illegal torrenting. As it stands The Avengers has become the most torrented movie currently followed by The Hunger Games and The Dictator in second and third respectively. A few terrible movies make the list as well including Freelancers and The Babymakers, both of which come in under 4.0 on IMDb. Still its interesting to note that The Avengers was seen by many via pre-release CAMrips one of which managed to garner quiet a few views on youtube before being pulled. Yet it had next to no impact on said film breaking box office records, but with Blu-ray and DVD rips now toping the download charts it remains to be seen how Disney and Marvel will react as instead of it being a form of viral marketing its now eating into profit margins. How long The Avengers will remain in the number one spot remains to be seen but if it's record setting box office numbers are any indication it will probably remain high on the list for sometime. Regardless, copyright infringement seems to be a hot ticket issue this year with SOPA, PIPA, ACTA, along with both Megauload and Demonoid getting shutdown among others. It seems all that money spent trying to KO piracy hasn't really done anything to stop it and the download counter just keeps rising.
Source: http://www.legitreviews.com/news/13910/
of course it did.
hardly surprising and batman will top it when it's released on dvd/bluray and (popular movie) will do the same
Yet it had next to no impact on said film breaking box office records,
See that hollywood?
See that hollywood?
They can't hear you. They're too busy playing with all their MONEY.
See that hollywood?
No [editline]20th August 2012[/editline]
They can't hear you. They're too busy playing with all their MONEY.
you....
Over half of those torrents were fangirls from tumblr obviously
Not "The Dark Knight Rises"? Aw...
Well, plenty of people don't like cams, so they wait until either leaked DVD or Bluray or until it is released for home media and torrent it anyways.
A decent appetizer till Dark Knight Rises comes to out on DVD and Blu Ray
I have to say that The Avengers and Dark Knight Rises are both worth going to the theater and watching.
well considering how my friend creams himself every time the Avengers is mentioned this isn't surprising [editline]20th August 2012[/editline] i still need to see this movie actually
The reason nobody pirates a movie while it's still in theatres is because having a guy with a head cam eating popcorn isn't entertaining At all
Let's just not turn this into the Avengers vs Dark Knight Rises, Dark Knight rises is a much more serious film whereas The Avengers is more...well, I might regret this word choice, but its more fun. They were both amazing films, it comes down to what kinda film you like better, serious or fun, as to whether you like one or the other better. They both deliver beautifully in their own respects.
I hope they realise this doesn't necessarily mean people who won't pay for the film, I'm sure a lot of those are just people who couldn't get to the cinema to see it and will just buy it on DVD
I went to cinema to see Avengers and didn't regret it. I probably won't for Batman, tho.
Not "The Dark Knight Rises"? Aw...that was a much better movie.
The Avengers came out way before The Dark Knight Rises. Thus, it had much more time to be torrented. It's likely that The Dark Knight Rises will shoot up in torrent popularity once enough time has passed.
Dark Knight doesn't have a DVD release yet. When it does, it will most likely top the charts then.
I went to cinema to see Avengers and didn't regret it. I probably won't for Batman, tho.
Dark Knight Rises was incredible, go see it!
With a movie this good, why would you want to pirate it? I for one would rather buy the DVD version just to support the movie studios for making such an excellent movie of the year.
Am I the only one that noticed that Battleship is in the Top 10 most downloaded? That movie sucked.
Avengers was great. It was the perfect 'fun' superhero film. It might not be a great work of cinematic art, but it wasn't trying to be. It did everything it set out to do very well, and is probably one of the most enjoyable films I've ever seen.
It is definitely the movie I've enjoyed the most this year. Not necessarily the best, but most enjoyable.
just saw TDKR, it was a good movie, but i don't understand the big deal
just saw TDKR, it was a good movie, but i don't understand the big deal
I have a list of things that I think it didn't do right, but both times I saw it I ended with a feeling of "AWWW YEAH THAT SHIT WAS SO GOOD", just that montage of the aftermath, seals the deal erry time
only two of those movies doesn't have "The" at the beginning
holy fuck it's just like doo-wop bands
It is definitely the movie I've enjoyed the most this year. Not necessarily the best, but most enjoyable.
Most enjoyable movie of the year=Cabin In The Woods Can't remember the last time I had such great fun in the cinema just from watching a movie.
Most enjoyable movie of the year=Cabin In The Woods Can't remember the last time I had such great fun in the cinema just from watching a movie.
This.
If I want to see a movie while it's in cinemas I do so. I know people who really look forward to a movie but then end up torrenting a cam version because "it's free", even though they have plenty of money to spend on other things.
This is why Hollywood's DVD release delays are such bullshit, good copies hit the internet for free long before you can even buy something on physical media.
