• Google sues the United States.
In the latest installment of anti-trust drama in the upper echelons of technology industry giants, Google has filed suit against the United States Government. The complaint is that when the US was looking at options to improve their messaging functionality, they specifically looked for only Microsoft products, and didn’t once take into consideration a Google Apps solution. Google’s argument is that restricting the Request for Quotation to Microsoft Is “unduly restrictive of competition.” It happens to also be unduly restrictive to Google’s financial standing, but that probably wouldn’t fly in court. The US defends its position by claiming that although Google could have been considered in the RFQ, Microsoft offered two things that Google couldn’t offer in their Google Apps platform: Unified Mail/Messaging, and “enhanced security.” That last security bit probably raised all kinds of hackles over at Google, and they are understandably fighting against that argument trying to convince Microsoft that Google, Apple could very well have been a possibility, and that it was unfair to exclude them from the outset. The official complaint, as provided by Techdirt, outlines a scenario, where, after Google tried to present themselves as a possible provider for the service, the CIO of the Department of the Interior informed them that a “path forward had already been chosen.” On the off chance that this lawsuit actually goes anywhere in court, we could be seeing an interesting shift in power in the war on government tech contracts. Microsoft has been the de facto choice of the US government (and for most of the world) for quite some time, and if Google can really prove that they could offer a viable solution for government email/messaging, Microsoft may actually have a real fight on their hands. This is stupid the US government should be able to choose whoever they want. Wtf is this affirmative action shit
I, for one, welcome our new Google overlords.
I, for one, welcome our new Google overlords.
This.
They're gonna regret this when google takes over the country.
I am at a loss of words.
This is stupid the US government should be able to choose whoever they want. Wtf is this affirmative action shit
Anti-trust laws are actually extremely important for a free society.
What? The United States government trusts Microsoft products? Well, I guess we're all fucked.
What? The United States government trusts Microsoft products? Well, I guess we're all fucked.
Ironically, the US government doesn't support Vista or Win7, only 64-bit XP.
What? The United States government trusts Microsoft products? Well, I guess we're all fucked.
As opposed to Apple?
As opposed to Apple?
Open-Source country, run everything on Ubuntu.
So they weren't afraid of China and now they're not afraid of the US. I personally think we're all fucked.
:aaaaa:
If the world was run by Apple, everything would be white and shiny with rounded edges. A lot of things would be made of metal.
I don't see what's so wrong about this... They should look at other company's products, not just restrict themselves to one.
Ironically
no
So they weren't afraid of China and now they're not afraid of the US. I personally think we're all fucked.
I'm okay with that. Google has shown time and time again that they suck at being evil.
Ironically, the US government doesn't support Vista or Win7, only 64-bit XP.
XP is still a solid OS, but if they stay with Microsoft internet browsers, they're screwed.
Open-Source country, run everything on Ubuntu.
I'm sure the government can afford to finance their own distro
no
Nobody ever uses irony correctly, just like "literally." It's not even worth it to point out its incorrect use.
no
You don't find it funny as fuck that the USA uses an OS that's almost 10 years old?
It's like apple would sue me for buying a pc.
Nobody ever uses irony correctly, just like "literally." It's not even worth it to point out its incorrect use.
I literally spent a hundred years understanding that. How ironic! :downs:

Yeah, looks like Google is going to own the world in 20 years.
This is what happens when money rules the world.
Open-Source country, run everything on Ubuntu.
Or better yet a good Linux distribution other than the highly overrated and bloated Ubuntu.
This is what happens when money rules the world.
It's not just a concern of money. Restricting yourself to one company's software/hardware/whatever is just a bad idea overall and will eventually fuck you over, and since it's at a government level, it'll fuck everybody over.
Open-Source country, run everything on Ubuntu.
No fedora
