Hey guys, This year i am spending 2 weeks in Copenhagen with my older brother for 2 weeks after Christmas. Hes fairly fluent in Danish and he knows his area pretty well, like nightlife and such. But i know zero danish. I just really want some input on what ishould be prepared for over there. I am incredibly excited to go over there so i would like to be prepared. I just havce a coouple of questions. How should i handle myslef not knowing any danish? And how should i go about dealing with nightlife?
Help me out facepunch.
"Sut" is a great danish comeback.
Remember to call them grötmanglare for ultimate effect.

i'm danish, and i don't even know what this means.
Don't worry about it. Almost everybody in Denmark can speak english.
I don't know a lot of good places to party and stuff like that, but i guess there is a lot of those places around Nørrebro station. And If you stay together with you friends you will be fine..
Also, visit Østerbro and buy some kebab at Merhabas.
Stay away from Smeagòl. Then you'll be safe.
I'm quarter danish so I approve this thread.
Go to Kalundborg, let's party.
But yeah, stay of of Istadgade, it's the whore street.
And beware of the junkies on Hovedbanegården (Main train station)
I'm in Denmark right now, near Copenhagen, month long stay. I go here a lot and should be living here next year :)
Most people seem to speak good English so the language thing isn't an issue.
Go to nørreport station, and it wont be hard to find a place to go.
I'm danish and I don't know anyone who doesn't speak english.
Yeah don't sweat it, if you know English you're set, this isn't China or something, we're right across from Britian remember. In fact our metro has announcements in English.

Any bigger than average city in about any country is bound to have metro announcements in English.
I live in Copenhagen and all I can say is this really:
Stay in and arround inner city/Nørrebro for acceptable bars and nightclubs.
Speak English as much as you desire, if anything Danes love to prove their English skills.
If you either want a shit party time, or wanna get nice and high swing by Cristianshavn on Islandbrygge.
bring winter clothing, Danish weather sucks post-fall.
Stay out of christania
That's horrible advice.
Depends on who he is for person.
Enjoy the fierce Danish winter winds. They're fun as hell to fight on ice.

Even if he doesn't smoke it's still a great place.
Stay out of christania
Disregard this.
Go to Christiana.

?
Christiana would be my first stop. Not only for the mass amounts of cheap and dank-ass weed, but also since it's a lovely freetown, with a unique culture and society that's definitely worth checking out.
There was just found 18 molotovs there :v:
Another dane here as well. I guess most vital stuff has already been said and i live in Århus so there's not much to say. Well feel free to talk english as nearly all can talk and understand it without problems. The nightlife is awesome, just try not to interfere with the perkish (perkere) as they're hard to understand and lack proper social skills lol. Enjoy your stay. Also i might warn you everything is expensive here with our 25% VAT's so don't get too surprised.

Don't be racist. . . My advice would be to stay away from large groups of young people with dogs on their hoodies and bald heads..

Oh dear what are we gonna do?
You obviously don't know your way around staden so please stop telling turists to not go there, they're great to leech off of.
If you are going to copenhagen, do not go to ''Nørrerbro'' at night. Also, Metro is a great way to get around the inner parts of the city.
And just ask around if you need to go somewhere, I live in copenhagen, and as far as I know, people are pretty helpful.
And, if you see a guy in a white hoodie and black pants, ask him for advice.
Go to Nordjylland!
Top of Denmark, its quite awesome and there is almost nothing but small city's and farms

No, and tourists wouldn't either.
